Previously, the main focus of Israel's military operations in the war with Hezbollah was in southern Lebanon, as well as the Bekaa Valley in the east and the suburbs of the country's capital Beirut.
The attack in the predominantly Christian town of Aitou hit a house housing displaced families, Mayor Joseph Trad told Reuters. In addition to the dead, eight people were wounded, according to Lebanon’s Health Ministry .

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, visiting a military base in central Israel where four soldiers were killed on Sunday in a Hezbollah drone attack, said Israel would continue to attack the militant group “without mercy, everywhere in Lebanon – including Beirut”.
At the Masnaa border crossing with Syria, Jalal Ferhat and Amal Tefayeli, along with their five children, were trying to leave Lebanon. "They (Israeli forces) attacked near my house," said Ferhat, from Baalbek in eastern Lebanon. "I have children, you can't just stay in one place."
Across the front line, in central Israel, residents also rushed to shelters as sirens sounded. The Israeli military said in a statement that about 115 rockets fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon entered Israel on Monday.
The Israeli military also said it killed Muhammad Kamel Naim, commander of an anti-tank missile unit of Hezbollah's elite Radwan Forces, in an attack in the Nabatieh area of southern Lebanon.
Israel is also targeting bases of the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The United Nations said Israeli tanks stormed their base on Sunday.
UNIFIL spokesperson Andrea Tenenti told X on Monday that the UN peacekeeping mission would continue despite the danger. "We are in southern Lebanon under the orders of the Security Council. So it is important to maintain an international presence and keep the UN flag in the area," Tenenti said.
UNIFIL said Israeli attacks had limited its ability to monitor and feared any violations of international law in the conflict would go unmonitored.
