According to information from CNN Indonesia, PSSI recently sent a complaint to AFF about U23 Vietnam player Hong Phuc.
Hong Phuc (number 20) is with U23 Vietnam participating in the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers.
The Indonesian Football Federation confirmed that Hong Phuc fouled two Indonesian U23 players, Haykal Al Hafiz and Arkhan Fikri, in the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 final.
However, referee Hiroki Kasahara said it was just an unintentional act and did not give the U23 Vietnam star a card.
After the match ended, AFF did not impose any penalty on Hong Phuc.
Speaking about this, PSSI President Erick Thohir said: “We have sent a letter of complaint to AFF to clarify this situation. We also want to discuss further the schedule of tournaments in the Southeast Asian region.
Should AFF consider cutting tournaments that do not coincide with the FIFA schedule? Because participating teams will hardly have the best squad when the tournament is outside the FIFA schedule?
Since the time after the 2023 Southeast Asian U23 final, the Indonesian football world has been stirred up by the surprising statements of PSSI leaders.
Most notable among them is the announcement of the Indonesian football delegation leader, Mr. Sumardji, considering leaving AFF.
As for Hong Phuc, he is currently with U23 Vietnam participating in the 2024 U23 Asian qualifiers.
According to the schedule, at 7:00 p.m. on September 9, the red team will face U23 Yemen at Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho).
