According to the Office of the People's Committee of Giong Rieng District, by the end of October 2024, the district had coordinated with the Kien Giang Province Boarding Vocational College to open 68 vocational training classes for 2,011 people, including 856 ethnic minorities and 45 people from poor ethnic minority households. On average, every year in the district, about 1,000 ethnic minorities, mostly Khmer people, participate in concentrated vocational training at intermediate and college levels. Thereby, it has created more jobs and increased income for ethnic minority households and poor and near-poor households in the district, helping them gradually escape poverty sustainably.
Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Duong, Chief of Office of the People's Council - People's Committee of Giong Rieng district said: In the coming time, the district will continue to develop a plan to coordinate with the provincial departments and branches to organize vocational training, creating opportunities for workers to find jobs; at the same time, direct the communes, towns, departments and unions of the district to organize training in cultivation and animal husbandry techniques; transfer scientific and technical advances; especially promote the application of technology in production and business, ensure and improve the efficiency of models and maintain the learned professions to apply in practice in the locality.
