On May 22, leaders of Bao Thang District People's Committee visited and encouraged families with children who drowned in Nam Tra and Nam Phang villages, Gia Phu commune.


Previously, at around 5:50 p.m. on May 21, Vang Duc Q. (born in 2014, residing in Nam Tra village, Gia Phu commune), a 5A student at Gia Phu commune's Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, and Phan Van Tr. (born in 2014, residing in Nam Phang village, Gia Phu commune), a 4B student at the same school, after dinner went swimming in the stream and drowned in the stream area of Nam Tra village of the commune.
The stream area is about 200m from the school. The incident was discovered by students and reported to the boarding teachers. Upon receiving the news, the teachers and local people were present and performed first aid, but the two students did not survive. At the time of the drowning, teachers were present at the school to manage the boarding students.
At the places he visited, Mr. Nguyen Duc Binh, Vice Chairman of the District People's Committee, shared his thoughts and hoped that the families would soon overcome their grief and loss and stabilize their lives. At the same time, he requested all levels, sectors, schools, families and people in the district to further strengthen the work of protecting, caring for and educating children to avoid unfortunate accidents that may occur.

The district's working delegation also worked with Gia Phu Primary Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities and local authorities to understand the situation, objective and subjective causes leading to the above incident and draw experience in student management, and at the same time assigned the competent authorities to investigate and clarify according to the provisions of law.
