Towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army

Kinhtedothi – Towards the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) and the 35th anniversary of National Defense Day (December 22, 1989 - December 22, 2024), Military Region 7 organized many meaningful activities.

Commemorative activities include: propaganda, education; emulation, rewards; culture, literature, art; military, national defense, physical education and sports; policies, mass mobilization, gratitude; national defense diplomacy; construction of commemorative works; returning to the source combined with organizing the "Military-Civilian Cultural Festival"; commemorative meetings.

Regarding propaganda and education, Military Region 7 (MR7) organized training for reporters, implemented the propaganda outline issued by the Central Propaganda Department - General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (VPA) to propagate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the VPA and the 35th anniversary of the National Defense Day. In addition, VPA also organized and participated in many competitions with 32,489 entries, selecting many of the best quality entries to submit to the military-level competition. Organized a contest to learn about the 80th anniversary of the Traditional Day of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 - December 22, 2024) at the Military Region level, with a total of 135 quality works; sent to the national competition 15 works, 1 typical model.

In the emulation and reward work, Military Region 7 proposed to confer the title of Hero of the People's Armed Forces (LLVTND) on 1 collective, the Ho Chi Minh City Military Region, and 1 individual, Martyr Le Thi Bach Cat. At the same time, it proposed to award the Fatherland Protection Medal, the Military Exploit Medal (all ranks) to 283 comrades participating in international duties in Cambodia, Laos, the first line of the northern border, and remote islands; proposed to award the Glorious Soldier Medal (all ranks), the Victory Flag Medal in 2024 to 2,392 comrades; proposed to award the Commemorative Medal "For the cause of building the Vietnam People's Army" in 2024 to 314 comrades.

Notably, in the policy work, mass mobilization, care for cadres, soldiers and policy beneficiaries, people with revolutionary contributions, poor households, and "Repaying gratitude" in 2024, Military Region 7 has implemented 251 billion VND. Implementing the project "Building residential areas adjacent to border militia posts in Military Region 7 in the period of 2019-2025", 58 points with 629 houses have been handed over, with a total cost of more than 142 billion VND. Building 2 kindergartens adjacent to border residential areas in Long An and Binh Phuoc provinces costing over 10 billion VND; building 16 cultural and sports facilities in religious establishments and ethnic minority areas costing over 13 billion VND.

In this work, Military Region 7 also built and donated 261 "Houses of Military-Civilian Gratitude" (exceeding the target by 1 house) with a cost of more than 20 billion VND; built and donated 93 "Houses of Great Unity" (exceeding the target by 33 houses), costing more than 4 billion VND. The Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 7 and agencies and units supported the construction of "Houses of Great Unity" for 1,702 cases of housing difficulties with a cost of more than 279 billion VND. Built and donated 55 "Houses of Comrades" (exceeding the target by 13 houses), costing more than 4 billion VND; The Ministry of National Defense, Military Region 7 and agencies and units supported the construction of 102 cases of housing difficulties with a cost of more than 24 billion VND.

Military Region 7 Command also mobilized over 3,000 officers, soldiers, and vehicles to help people with over 4,000 working days and over 11,000 m3 of water; saved expenses, mobilized resources to support people in the northern provinces to overcome the consequences of storms and floods worth over 30 billion VND. In 2024, 481 martyrs' remains were searched for and collected in the country (109 martyrs' remains) and in Cambodia (372 martyrs' remains); coordinated the construction, inauguration and use of 2 martyrs' remains in Cambodia. On the morning of November 7, Military Region 7 will organize a military departure ceremony, assigning tasks to the teams searching for and collecting martyrs' remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Cambodia. From December 1 to 22, the organization will visit and present gifts to revolutionary veterans, policy beneficiaries, and poor students who love to study; medical examination, free medicine for local people.

In the construction of commemorative works, the Military Region 7 Command has completed the President Ho Chi Minh Memorial in the Military Region 7 Command compound. Units from regimental level and above in the entire Military Region 7 registered to build 245 works to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam People's Army, 196 works have been completed, the rest will be inaugurated before December 22.

In December 2024, the Military Region 7 Command organized a source-returning activity combined with the "Military-Civilian Cultural Festival". As for the anniversary meeting, Military Region 7 and the agencies and units of the Armed Forces did not organize a celebration ceremony but organized for the troops to directly watch the National Anniversary Ceremony on the morning of December 22. The Ho Chi Minh City Command held a meeting with generations of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers" on December 20; the Lam Dong Provincial Military Command organized a meeting with 80 outstanding religious dignitaries, 80 village elders, and prestigious people among ethnic minorities in December 2024.
