DNVN - Speaking at the forum "Current situation and solutions for green energy conversion - green economy in industry" on May 24, Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van emphasized that by 2050, the rate of renewable energy will reach 71.5% of electricity production.

According to Deputy Minister of Construction Nguyen Tuong Van, the Vietnamese Government is making efforts to both develop the economy sustainably and ensure the implementation of commitments at the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention (COP). In particular, it is committed to contributing responsibly to implementing actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions with the international community...

These are all very ambitious but challenging goals. They require huge financial and technological resources.

The national power development plan for the period 2021 - 2030, with a vision to 2050, has set the goal of successfully implementing a fair energy transition associated with production modernization. Building a smart grid, advanced power system management, in line with the world's green transition, emission reduction, and science and technology development trends.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Tuong Van said that developing renewable energy must lead to breakthrough changes for industries and fields.

“By 2050, the rate of renewable energy will reach 67.5 - 71.5% of electricity production. Implement solutions on management and technology to use energy economically and efficiently.

Along with that, using alternative fuels to replace fossil fuels to reduce production costs, increase business efficiency, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions is being applied in Vietnam," said Mr. Van.

The Deputy Minister of Construction said that the ministry has issued an action plan for the industry to respond to climate change for the 2022-2030 period, with a vision to 2050. At the same time, it aims to implement Vietnam's commitment at COP 26.

Accordingly, green transformation includes energy transformation, eliminating the use of coal and fossil fuels. Renewable energy development must lead to breakthrough changes for industries and fields, including the construction industry.

Now is the time for the country's development sectors to cooperate, share difficulties, overcome barriers. Together towards green, sustainable development.

Speaking at the forum, Mr. Vuong Quoc Tuan - Permanent Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh Provincial People's Committee said that along with the goal of socio-economic development, Bac Ninh province has also early oriented along with economic growth to pay attention to environmental protection. Pay attention to social culture towards the goal of sustainable development.

Bac Ninh has expressed its viewpoint on sustainable development and green economy in the resolutions of the provincial Party Congress, the 5-year and annual socio-economic development plans. However, the issue of green economic development and green energy conversion in the industrial sector in the province still has shortcomings and limitations.

These are limitations related to industrial pollution in craft villages, high-tech and clean-tech conversion of enterprises...

"To achieve this level, the world needs to reduce emissions by 45% by 2030 and reach Net zero by 2050. This is a big goal that requires a lot of domestic and international resources and the cooperation of the whole community. Therefore, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and converting to green and clean energy is an opportunity to promote economic restructuring towards sustainability," Mr. Dung emphasized.
