Hue opens tourist information and support center at Chan May port

The operation of the Tourist Information and Support Center at Chan May Port will contribute to more effectively exploiting cruise tourists, promoting tourism and supporting tourists by sea.


On the afternoon of October 25, the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue province coordinated with Chan May Port Joint Stock Company to organize the opening ceremony of the Tourist Information and Support Center at Chan May port (Loc Vinh commune, Phu Loc district, Thua Thien Hue province).

The cruise ship carrying 2,150 passengers and 958 crew members docked at Chan May port.

Accordingly, the Tourist Information and Support Center at Chan May Port was opened and put into operation to exploit cruise tourists at Chan May Port; introduce and promote Thua Thien Hue tourism and support tourists by sea.

This center is an address that serves cruise ship tourists with information such as: Providing leaflets, brochures, tourism information publications, tourist maps, tourist guidebooks and information related to the local tourism environment... at the same time, consulting tourists with the necessary information to have an enjoyable experience when visiting Hue.

The center also displays and introduces a number of specialties, souvenirs, handicrafts, and typical products of Hue to promote the culture and image of Hue to cruise tourists.

In addition, the organization supports tour booking services, bus ticket booking, restaurant booking, hotel booking and other services upon request; and especially supports tourists in cases of urgent need for help such as lost documents, reporting negative content.

On this occasion, the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue and Chan May Port Joint Stock Company jointly welcomed a group of tourists on the cruise ship Celebrity Millennium, Maltese nationality of Royal Caribbean, bringing 2,150 guests and 958 crew members to Chan May port.

These were also the first cruise ship tourists to visit and seek information at the Tourist Information and Support Center at Chan May Port.

According to information from Chan May port, in 2024, this seaport welcomed 41 cruise ships with more than 90,000 passengers and crew members to Thua Thien Hue province.

In 2025, there were 42 trips carrying nearly 80,000 passengers and crew members registered to dock at Chan May port.

Mr. Nguyen Van Phuc, Director of the Department of Tourism of Thua Thien Hue province, also said that in the first 10 months of 2024, the number of visitors to Hue is estimated at more than 3.2 million (an increase of more than 26.7% over the same period last year), of which international visitors are estimated at more than 1 million (an increase of nearly 31.4% over the same period last year.

Revenue from tourism is estimated at nearly VND4,234 billion, up 14.33% over the same period last year.
