At dusk, people saw two dark figures groping around the street corner, littering with trash.

Seeing that, some people whispered and pointed, at this time two young men turned their heads and smiled, one of them said: "We are just collecting trash, we are not doing anything dangerous" . The two young men were Nguyen Ngoc Hung (27 years old, Kep town, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province) and Pham Duc Thanh (27 years old, Thong Kenh commune, Gia Loc district, Hai Duong province).

After graduating from the University of Construction, Hung and Thanh both worked and collected trash together with volunteer groups. In early 2023, the two decided to set up a group called "Go Green", starting to live with their green dream since they were children. Currently, Hung and Thanh's environmental protection page "Go Green" has attracted 2,000 followers. "I remember the first time I went to collect trash from home, I felt indescribably happy because I could fulfill my passion, but I was also nervous and a little worried, just afraid that people would not believe me. That day, I had not prepared anything, just me and my vehicle, struggling with the pile of trash to get home" , Hung said. After that time, Hung called on everyone to invest in motorbike racks, "transforming" fashionable motorbikes into cargo vehicles. Hung's group collected old, ordinary clothes to combine with volunteer groups to send to highlands and difficult places.

The group collects all types of recyclable waste such as plastic bags, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, glass bottles, cardboard, photocopy paper and old batteries. Previously, the group brought the waste back to the members' rented rooms, but recently, the group has rented a small warehouse to store and sort the waste. " The group operates for the benefit of the community, not for profit," Hung said. The group members hope that when they develop further, they will use electric vehicles as a means of transportation, going door to door to collect waste to limit emissions. "Protecting the environment is a responsibility." Although they have been operating for a long time, relatives of both Hung and Thanh do not know that the two collect waste for the purpose of protecting the environment.

“These activities come from individuals, we don’t tell our families, we just tell our families to sort trash at home. For me, contributing to environmental protection is a responsibility,” Thanh shared. Thanh thinks that perhaps when the group grows bigger and helps the community more, they will “show off” to their relatives later. Thanh and Hung are not married yet, both believe that their love story is due to “fate” and want to spend time contributing a little bit to protect the environment they live in together. Mr. Pham Quang Thien (47 years old, lane 20 Truong Dinh, Hoang Mai, Hanoi), commented that the act of going door to door to collect trash for free by the group of young people is worth praising and replicating. When everyone is gathering with their family after a tiring and stressful day at work, Hung and Thanh are still diligently collecting trash. For them, this is a responsibility, a joy and a passion from their childhood.
