Houthi forces in Yemen announced on January 14 that they had fired a supersonic ballistic missile at the headquarters of the Israeli Ministry of Defense, marking the third missile launch within 12 hours.
Ynet News in Israel quoted a Houthi spokesman as saying the third missile launch into Israel in 12 hours was carried out on the morning of January 14 and targeted the Israeli Defense Ministry headquarters. The Houthis said the attacks would continue until Israel ended the war in Gaza and released the hostages.
Israeli media reported that shrapnel from the air defense system had fallen in several areas of Jerusalem and caused damage, but no casualties were reported. Israeli police said debris from a Houthi missile had been found in several residential areas in Jerusalem and advised residents not to touch it. Israel did not immediately respond to reports that its Defense Ministry had been targeted by the Houthis.

The Times of Israel reported on January 14 that the Israeli military announced that it had taken measures to intercept the Houthi missiles, but did not provide further details. Previously, Israel said it had intercepted a Houthi missile on the evening of January 13, then a second Houthi missile was launched at around 3 a.m. on January 14 and Israel attempted to counter it, but the military was not sure if it had successfully intercepted it. Tel Aviv said there were no reports of casualties or property damage after the two launches.

After the first launch, the Houthis claimed responsibility, saying they had targeted a “significant target” in Tel Aviv, Israel, and claimed they had achieved their goal. Israel denied that the Houthis had succeeded in the missile attack.
The Houthi missile attacks come as Israel and Hamas appear to be close to a ceasefire in Gaza, with reports suggesting the deal could be announced as early as this week.
