At the same time, he affirmed his commitment to creating favorable conditions and promoting tourism cooperation with sister cities and international partners.
In recent years, Da Nang tourism has developed impressively and become a spearhead economic sector, developing sustainably and becoming an attractive, safe, friendly and hospitable destination. Da Nang has signed cooperation agreements with 16 cities of countries such as Korea, the United States, China, Finland, Russia, Romania, Australia, Japan and Thailand... as well as cooperating with airlines and international tourism agencies.
Cooperation activities focus on promoting tourism in key markets such as Korea, Japan, China, India, Australia and Southeast Asia, through organizing promotional programs, famtrips, presstrips, participating in international tourism fairs and implementing digital media campaigns. In 2024, Da Nang attracted 4.1 million international tourists, especially from key markets, while enhancing brand awareness in the international market, expanding its flight network, currently with 15 regular international routes with a frequency of 52 flights/day, creating favorable conditions for tourists to Da Nang and Da Nang residents to travel abroad.
Based on the principle of bilateral cooperation, support and mutual benefit, international cooperation programs contribute to promoting the image of the destination, enhancing the position of Da Nang on the world tourism map; at the same time, opening up opportunities for exchange and connection to attract international visitors and enhance the exchange of visitor sources.

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing solutions to strengthen international cooperation and sustainable tourism development, expand cooperation with new partners and especially encourage the participation of businesses and communities in connecting supply chains and developing tourism products. According to Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism Ha Van Sieu, with the goal of developing sustainable tourism, Da Nang city needs to continue promoting digital transformation in the tourism industry, developing smart tourism and strengthening links between cities and businesses in international cooperation.
Mr. Tom Tate, Mayor of Gold Coast City (Australia), shared that Gold Coast and Da Nang have many significant similarities. Both cities love and preserve natural landscapes, have vibrant tourism economies, and are safe, friendly destinations with annual festival events that attract a large number of visitors.
“However, we also face similar challenges in protecting our most important tourism assets: our coastlines and natural environments. We strongly believe in the power of international partnerships, to start discussions on how the two regions can support each other,” Mr. Tom Tate emphasized.
According to Mr. Watanabe Yoshikuni, Mayor of Kisarazu City (Japan), "With the aim of creating a sustainable future through international cooperation between industries and local governments, we approach problems to solve together instead of approaching each problem individually by creating the "Kisarazu Ecological and Circular Area". In particular, the Organic Industry Forum in Kisarazu focuses on the agriculture, food, energy and tourism industries, aiming at areas that promote healthy lifestyles.

According to Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong, in the coming time, Da Nang will expand cooperation with cities and units in countries with key tourist markets and potential for Da Nang tourism; in the immediate future, in 2025, efforts will be made to cooperate in connecting Western Sydney airport and Gold Coast city. In particular, promote the increase of the frequency of existing flights and open more direct international flights to Da Nang, first from Australia, UAE (towards opening a flight route from Da Nang to Dubai), India, Indonesia, and restore flights from Qatar and China. At the same time, research and promote the opening of direct flights from the United States and Europe to Da Nang. Promote the proactive role of the Tourism Association, member associations, large tourism corporations and the business community; connect the Da Nang Tourism Association with the Tourism Associations of friendly cities to connect and develop supply chains, tourism stimulus alliances, strengthen international cooperation, support the promotion of destinations, products and exchange of visitors.
"Da Nang is always open to learning from the experiences of friendly cities in sustainable tourism development, applying technology and big data to improve tourism organization capacity and visitor experience; at the same time, ready to participate in pilot models and share experiences with international partners," said Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism Tan Van Vuong.
