Cooperation to improve diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal abnormalities in children

From October 13 to 22, Saint Paul General Hospital (Hanoi) welcomed and worked with a delegation of six world-leading experts in the field of pediatric orthopedics from Spain, China, and the United States. The delegation was led by Dr. Francisco Soldado, Head of the Department of Pediatric Orthopedics at Vall d'Hebron Hospital (Barcelona, ​​Spain).

Dr. Francisco Soldado is known as one of the world's leading experts in pediatric microsurgery, especially in the treatment of complex upper limb deformities and brachial plexus palsy. He has collaborated with Saint Paul General Hospital in examinations and surgeries in 2022, 2023 and April 2024, bringing many positive results in the treatment of children with severe deformities.

Cooperating with the world's leading experts is an activity that Xanh Pon General Hospital regularly carries out to strengthen and expand international cooperation; at the same time, creating opportunities to exchange knowledge and professional experience between the hospital's medical staff and the world's leading experts in the field of pediatric orthopedics in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal deformities in pediatric patients.

During this period, the expert team coordinated with Xanh Pon General Hospital to implement a screening and surgery program for children under 16 years old with congenital malformations and musculoskeletal diseases. It is expected that about 120 children with congenital malformations and musculoskeletal diseases will be examined and operated on.

In addition to examination and surgery activities, doctors from Saint Paul General Hospital and the international expert team will also organize professional exchange sessions; update new treatment methods and discuss difficult cases. The new knowledge and techniques shared in these seminars will contribute to improving the quality of treatment for pediatric patients at the hospital, while strengthening long-term cooperation with international partners.

Therefore, resources and expertise from international experts will help us improve our treatment capabilities, especially for complex cases. And the examination and surgery program is an opportunity for the hospital to update the most advanced treatment techniques in the field of pediatric orthopedics. Consulting and performing surgery on complex cases with a team of international experts will help domestic doctors have the opportunity to learn and apply specialized knowledge to treatment practices in Vietnam.
