According to some parents and new students, the process of registering for dormitory accommodation at Hanoi University of Science and Technology on the first day of admission encountered many difficulties, lacking guidance and streamlining, leading to a "chaotic" situation. Many new students also reported that even though they registered online, they still encountered difficulties when applying in person.
Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Van Hai, Director of the Media Center, Hanoi University of Science and Technology confirmed that the incident happened yesterday morning (August 28).
This year, Hanoi University of Science and Technology has reserved more than 1,000 dormitory spaces for new students. Previously, the school opened an online registration portal and accepted registrations from about 500 students. The rest of the students will be registered directly when they come to the school to complete admission procedures.

"Previously, in the announcement, Hanoi University of Science and Technology also clearly stated information about the new students who are eligible to register to stay in the dormitory. However, because the new students did not read the regulations clearly, they registered to stay in large numbers, exceeding the quota," he said.
Associate Professor Dr. Dinh Van Hai also said that this year the demand for dormitory accommodation is much higher than previous years. Preliminary statistics show that the number of students wishing to stay in dormitories is up to 3,000-4,000, including many students whose houses are not too far from the school.
"The school announced that it would accept dormitory registration and work at 7:30 a.m., but many candidates and their families arrived very early. At first, they lined up in an orderly manner, but later, the number of people increased, leading to confusion and disorder. This is something we do not want..." , Associate Professor Hai said.
Immediately afterwards, the dormitory registration application reception department reviewed, processed and arranged seats for policy beneficiaries in accordance with the announcement and the actual supply capacity of the school.
This person also added that this year, the price of renting accommodation around the school has increased, along with concerns about fire prevention and fighting, so the number of students registering to live in dormitories has increased. Many cases that are not in the policy also register to live in dormitories.
To support new students, Hanoi University of Science and Technology also contacted the Management Board of Phap Van Student Dormitory to have a plan to guide registration and ensure stable accommodation before going to school.
