According to information from the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training), in the 2023 university entrance exam, 65.9% of candidates registered for university admission out of the total number of candidates taking the 2023 high school graduation exam.
Although this rate for 2023 and 2022 is much lower than the years before 2022, the leader of the Department of Higher Education said that this is a real number that reflects the wishes and corresponds to the actual capacity of the candidates, because they registered for admission after knowing the results of the high school graduation exam - according to the new admission registration process from 2022.
After virtual filtering, 92.7% of the candidates passed the exam (round 1) out of the total number of candidates registered for admission. 61.1% of the candidates passed the exam (round 1) after virtual filtering out of the total number of candidates taking the 2023 high school graduation exam.
This year, the country has 1,002,100 high school graduates. Of these, 660,258 candidates registered for university and college-level preschool education (accounting for 65.9% of the number of candidates). Compared to 2022, this year the number of high school graduation candidates has decreased, but the number of candidates registering for university admission has increased by 4.56%.
Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Thu Thuy, Director of the Department of Higher Education (Ministry of Education and Training) said: "Although this rate for 2023 and 2022 is much lower than the years before 2022, this is a real number that reflects the wishes and corresponds to the actual capacity of the candidates. Because the students register for admission after knowing the results of the high school graduation exam, according to the new admission registration process from 2022".
Notably, out of 660,258 candidates registered for admission, 92.7% of candidates passed the first round after virtual filtering in 2023. Thus, the number of candidates passed the first round on the system in 2023 also increased by 7.9% compared to 2022.
In 2022, 49.2% of students officially enrolled in university out of the total number of candidates taking the high school graduation exam in the same year. The Department of Higher Education expects a similar rate for the 2023 admissions.
