More than 720,000 Honda cars recalled in the US

The affected vehicles in this recall include the 2023-2024 Honda Accord, Accord Hybrid, 2025 Honda Civic Sedan, Civic Sedan Hybrid, and 2023-2025 Honda CR-V Hybrid. The total number of recalled vehicles in the US is up to more than 700,000 units, a notable number in a series of consecutive incidents at Honda this year.

The main cause of this recall is a defect in the high-pressure fuel pump, a critical component that ensures a stable fuel supply to the engine. When the pump cracks from the inside, fuel can leak, creating a flammable environment if there is a source of heat or spark. Fortunately, Honda has not recorded any accidents or injuries related to this problem to date.

More than 720,000 Honda cars recalled due to fire risk.

Honda will begin notifying affected customers in December 2024. Owners will be asked to take their vehicle to their nearest dealer for inspection and free fuel pump replacement.

The recall continues a series of major problems that Honda has faced this year. Just a week ago, the company recalled 1.7 million vehicles because of faulty steering systems that caused excessive friction and made it difficult to control the vehicle.

The models recalled in that recall include the Civic, Civic Type R, CR-V, HR-V, Acura Integra and Integra Type S. Since 2021, Honda has received more than 10,000 warranty claims related to this steering system defect.

Honda confirmed that there have been no reports of accidents related to this defect.

Previously, in April 2024, the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) opened an investigation into more than 3 million Honda Accord and CR-V vehicles due to suspected automatic emergency braking system failure, causing 31 accidents and 58 injuries.

It’s worth noting that fuel pump failures aren’t a new problem for Honda. Earlier this year, the company announced a recall of more than 4.5 million vehicles worldwide for a similar issue. This is the third time Honda has had to recall vehicles related to fuel pump issues, with the first one occurring in 2020.
