Specifically, the sector's revenue in the month reached 451 billion VND, up 10% over the same period last year.

In addition, as of August, out of a total of more than 7,600 information systems of state agencies, nearly 5,900 systems have been classified and protected by level (reaching 77% and increasing by 14% over the same period last year).

Also in August, the Ministry of Information and Communications, directly the Department of Information Security, recorded, warned and provided instructions on how to handle 349 cyber attacks that caused incidents to information systems in Vietnam, down 75.1% compared to the same period last year.

In the first 8 months of 2023, the number of cyber attacks causing system failures in Vietnam decreased by 53.2% compared to the first 8 months of 2023.

However, 23% of information systems of state agencies have not yet approved the level proposal documents, of which 22/91 ministries, branches and localities have a level proposal approval rate of less than 50%. In addition, the rate of information systems that have not fully implemented the security assurance plan by level is 43.5%, of which 33/91 ministries, branches and localities have a rate of fully implementing the information security assurance plan of less than 50%.

To overcome the above problem, local ministries and branches need to prioritize resources to complete the task of approving the level proposal dossier and deploying information security assurance plans for 100% of information systems under their management within the deadline required by the Prime Minister (September 2024 is the deadline for completing the approval of the information level proposal dossier, December 2024 is the deadline for deploying security assurance plans for their systems).

Within the framework of the APCERT 2024 international exercise, Mr. Tran Quang Hung - Deputy Director of the Department of Information Security also reminded the units about the Prime Minister's direction on compliance with legal regulations and strengthening the security of information systems at all levels. Accordingly, it is necessary to pay attention to implementing 6 information security measures sent by the Ministry of Information and Communications, including noting that there is an offline data backup without internet connection.

In addition, units also need to deploy measures to detect abnormalities in the network, review to avoid information leakage, require users to periodically change passwords and soon apply authentication mechanisms from 2 components or more.
