More than 2 million billion VND added to the economy

This is the total registered capital of newly established enterprises and additional registered capital of operating enterprises in the first 8 months of 2024.

Tourism and construction still record a decrease in the number of newly established businesses.

Updated information from the Department of Business Registration Management ( Ministry of Planning and Investment ), 110,764 newly registered enterprises in the past 8 months, an increase of 4.4% over the same period in 2023.

These enterprises registered 994,686 billion VND for the economy , up 0.7% over the same period.

The total number of enterprises returning to operation in the first 8 months of 2024 is 57,312 enterprises.

Among these, wholesale, retail, and auto and motorbike repair businesses ranked first with 22,522 businesses; followed by construction, mining, transportation, and warehousing... The real estate business recorded 370 businesses returning to operation.

The past 8 months also recorded 30,289 operating enterprises registering to increase capital, with a total additional registered capital of VND 1,019,320 billion, down 10.1% over the same period in 2023.

The average registered capital per enterprise in the first 8 months of 2024 reached nearly 9 billion VND, down 3.6% over the same period in 2023.

8/17 industries have an increase in the number of newly established enterprises compared to the same period in 2023, of which the leading ones are transportation and warehousing (up 15.48%); Wholesale; retail; auto and motorbike repair (up 12.08%); Arts, entertainment and recreation (up 10.62%); Production, distribution, electricity, water, gas (up 10.19%)...

The remaining industries saw a decrease in the number of newly established enterprises compared to the same period in 2023, including accommodation and catering services (down 10.03%); employment services; tourism; rental of machinery, equipment, supplies and other support services (down 9.45%). Construction and finance, banking and insurance are also industries that recorded a decrease in the number of newly established enterprises compared to the same period.

135,267 businesses withdrew from the market

Also in the report of the Department of Business Registration Management, in the first 8 months of 2024, 135,267 enterprises withdrew from the market. Of these, 61.2% of enterprises chose to temporarily suspend business in the short term.

Specifically, the number of businesses temporarily suspending business is 82,826.

Most of the enterprises that temporarily suspended business in the first 8 months of 2024 had a short operating period, less than 5 years with 35,399 enterprises (accounting for 42.7%); mainly concentrated in small scale (less than 10 billion VND) with 74,140 enterprises (accounting for 89.5%).

+ Enterprises withdrawing from the market : 12,421 , of which 5,334 enterprises registered to temporarily suspend business; 5,160 enterprises waiting for dissolution procedures; 1,927 enterprises have dissolved, ceased to exist, an increase of 26.03% over the same period in 2023.
