Stemming from the spirit of exploring the uniqueness of the region, Renaissance Hotels - part of Marriott Bonvoy's 31 hotel brands worldwide, officially announced the annual series of events "Global Discovery Day", taking place on May 18.

More than 170 Renaissance-branded hotels worldwide will come together to deliver enhanced guest experiences.

On this day, more than 170 Renaissance hotels around the world will come together to offer guests elevated experiences. Highlights include “Enjoy the Evening at Renaissance” – from surprising, creative welcomes at Renaissance bars to unexpected collaborations within and outside the hotel.

Ms. Jennie Toh, Vice President of Brand Marketing and Brand Management, Marriott International said that "Global Discovery Day" and "Enjoy the Evening at Renaissance" program officially marked the participation of Rennaissance hotel chain in the journey to join hands to introduce and honor indigenous cultural values.

Explore day and night

Highlighting the “Culture Keepers” concept in Bali’s Uluwatu, six hotels across Asia Pacific will deliver unexpected moments to showcase the “Enjoy an Evening at Renaissance” program.

For example, Renaissance Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa will celebrate local traditions and promote community-led eco-tourism at intimate and friendly destinations around the hotel. Hosted by Veronika Krasnasari, the three-day program includes a fascinating tour of the nearby ZeroWaste Center. An in-depth discussion on Endek Bali, the island’s indigenous textile, with Agung Indra. This will be followed by an Endek-themed fashion show by local designer Dwi Iskandar and a 12-course traditional Balinese dinner by Balinese chef Wisnu Adiyatma.

At Renaissance Beijing Wangfujing Hotel , during the day, guests will enjoy a summer environmental hiking trail along the Forbidden City and stop at Jiaolou for a break. Then continue to the top of Jinshan Park to see historical sites and the bustling central business district to feel the transition from tradition to modernity.

At night, the hotel will highlight the harmonious blend of Western and Chinese elements through a candlelight concert at R Bar, where musicians will perform Western and Chinese music with piano, violin and cello.

At Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel , creativity comes to life through Renaissance-branded Tuk Tuk caravans. The tour will offer various hands-on experiences, from a mock-tail making session of “vintage coffee imitation”, tasting of hand-brewed filter coffee and tasting of local herbal teas.

In the evening, guests are invited to enjoy a bowl-beating ceremony as well as live performances by renowned Thai traditional instrument musician Keng Tachaya and the Godfather of famous R&B artist - Tom Isara.

Meanwhile, Renaissance Harbour View Hotel Hong Kong guides guests through the historic heart of Asia’s most culturally diverse region. Guests can join the hotel’s guide on a tour through the bustling Wan Chai district, with stopovers at landmarks such as the old Wan Chai market, the Blue House, and The Pawn bar.

At night, the lower lobby and common area will be transformed into a bustling scene of "Dai Pai Dong Street" or street food stalls, perfectly decorated with elements such as minibus signs, neon lights, and live performances of old Cantonese songs.

Renaissance Riverside Hotel Saigon will delight guests with its Global Day of Discovery open-top bus, taking guests to explore the unique offerings of Ho Chi Minh City, from a Vietnamese coffee workshop, to a Vietnamese lunch gathering, water puppetry, and a painting session with local artist Nguyen Tan Luc at the hotel. In the evening, guests can experience the on-site "Saigon Paradox Rooftop Party" where the hotel hosts sand painting, traditional musical instrument performances, and drum performances.

Renaissance Xiamen Hotel will pay homage to Minnan's intangible cultural heritage. Guests are invited to take part in experiences including a visit to the Gulong Soy Sauce Cultural Park to learn about traditional sauce-making methods, a DIY class at Tong'An Wu Zhaozhi Restaurant, a hands-on experience of lacquerware carving at Qi Bao Zhai, and a tasting session at the Confucius Oolong Tea Hall.

As night falls, a traditional Chinese market will be set up around the stage, offering a variety of local delicacies and special cocktails with the “Enjoy the Evening at Renaissance” program. The hotel also plans to maintain this intangible cultural heritage tour as a service included in room reservations from May 18 onwards.
