On October 15, Hue University (HU) held the opening ceremony and welcomed 13,352 new students to the new school year 2024-2025.
At the opening ceremony, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Anh Phuong - Director of Hue University, informed that Hue University currently has 13 training units, including 8 member universities, 1 branch in Quang Tri province, the School of Tourism and 3 affiliated faculties with a system of research institutes, centers, and publishing houses, with a scale of 153 university-level training majors, 108 master's training majors and 58 doctoral training majors. Hue University's training scale is more than 40,000 full-time students, 5,000 graduate students and postgraduates.

Hue University has a diverse training program from natural sciences, social sciences, medicine, engineering to economics, pedagogy, tourism, and arts. The teaching staff is experienced, highly qualified, and well-trained domestically and internationally.
Mr. Le Anh Phuong said that Hue University is currently among the top universities in the world in various categories of THE university rankings.
"Hopefully, the education we provide will help students prepare enough for important tasks in their life journey," Associate Professor, Dr. Le Anh Phuong hopes.
Mr. Phuong acknowledged that Thua Thien-Hue province is very close to the goal of becoming a centrally-governed city of Vietnam. Hue University is also trying to become the third national university of Vietnam according to Resolution 54 and Resolution 26 of the Politburo, Resolution 83 of the Government.
As a student who won an international Silver medal in Biology to be directly admitted to the Faculty of General Medicine at the University of Medicine - Hue University, new student Ho Duc Trung was moved: “This is a very special opening ceremony for 13,352 new students, the opening ceremony reminds us of the pride and hope before the open journey in the university lecture hall of Hue University. If yesterday, Hue University was our dream, today, this is the place where each new student trains and develops themselves in the spirit of promoting creativity, standards, responsibility and friendliness.”
At the opening ceremony, Hue University organized a ceremony to present certificates of merit from the Director of Hue University to 37 students who won prizes in national and international competitions in the 2023-2024 academic year; presented certificates of merit from the Director of Hue University to 9 Vietnamese students and 5 foreign students with the best academic and training results in the 2023-2024 academic year of member universities, schools, and faculties under Hue University; presented certificates of merit from the Director of Hue University to 2 students who were valedictorians of Hue University and 13 students who were valedictorians of member universities, schools, faculties, and affiliated branches in the 2024 regular university entrance exam.
