More than 10,000 students of Thu Dau Mot University have had their tuition fees incorrectly collected refunded.

On January 24, many students of Thu Dau Mot University, Binh Duong province were surprised when their accounts received amounts ranging from several hundred to millions of VND per person with the content that the school was refunding tuition fees in the case of erroneous collection of 37 billion VND.

The leaders of Thu Dau Mot University said that so far they have completed the procedures and determined the list of more than 10,000 students whose tuition fees will be refunded.

As of January 24, 21 billion VND of the 37 billion VND of incorrectly collected tuition fees had been refunded to student accounts. The remaining amount will be refunded by the school in the coming time.

According to the school, refunding tuition fees to students takes a lot of time because it has to check and compare the list and account numbers of students. In addition, the school needs to carry out the procedures and processes for refunding according to the State's regulations.

After receiving the money, many former students shared on social networks with content filled with joy on the eve of Tet.

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , Thu Dau Mot University collected 37 billion VND in excess tuition fees for the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 school years. The audit conclusion required the school to refund the excess tuition fees to students, or pay them into the budget in case they cannot refund them to students.

The school has paid 37 billion VND to the budget, however, this has caused students and the public to question and react. After the press reported, Thu Dau Mot University "corrected the mistake" by refunding the money to the students.
