More than 1,500 students with perfect scores 'compete' for admission to grade 6 at Ams School

The entrance exam for grade 6 at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted is organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training.

This year, 1,544 candidates were divided into 65 examination rooms at the Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted and Tran Duy Hung Secondary School. With a quota of about 200 students, the admission to grade 6 at "Ams" School is not divided by region but has strict regulations on admission conditions, including a "full 10" academic record score.

Specifically, to get a "place" to take the entrance exam for grade 6 at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, students must have a minimum preliminary score of 167/170 points in the 5-year primary school report card (considering the subjects according to regulations) and the subjects of each year must be "completed well" or higher. Thus, students who want to take the entrance exam must first have "all 10 points in their report card".

However, after passing the initial preliminary round to select those "superheroes", the candidates will have to participate in the second round, the audition round, which is even more intense.

Each candidate must take three compulsory tests, including Vietnamese and English in the morning and math in the afternoon. The test is a combination of multiple choice and essay questions, with a time limit of 45 minutes per test.

Although the time to do the test is not long, the entrance exam for grade 6 of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted is always famous for its difficulty. If from primary school, students do not study hard and practice the test, it will be difficult to pass the school.

Previously, many parents reported being shocked when their children's applications were rejected in the preliminary round to enter grade 6 at Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted, even though their report cards all had 10s, but some subjects assessed by comments were only recorded as "completed" instead of "completed well" or "completed excellently".

According to the Hanoi Department of Education and Training, the junior high school block of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted is where intelligent and talented students are discovered to continue training and nurturing at higher levels.

Every year, the school's 6th grade enrollment always receives the attention and support of the majority of the capital's people, requiring the school to make great efforts and carefully study the industry's regulations to build reasonable enrollment criteria, creating convenience for students, and meeting mission requirements.

According to plan, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training will announce the benchmark scores for grade 6 of Hanoi - Amsterdam High School for the Gifted in 2023 on July 5.

From July 5 to 7, admitted candidates come to school to enroll. The school will announce additional admission scores (if any) on July 10.
