Regarding the case of assaulting and obstructing reporters from working, on April 26, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi signed Official Dispatch No. 08/CV/HNBVN requesting the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi Police to continue to urge and direct competent agencies to investigate, clarify, and strictly handle those who assaulted journalists.
The document stated: On April 23, reporter Mai Huy Manh (working at VnExpress Electronic Newspaper), currently a member of the Vietnam Journalists Association; and reporter Nguyen Van Cung (working at VTV Times under Vietnam Television) while working at the scene to provide information and images of the fire in Viet Yen village, Ngu Hiep commune, Thanh Tri district, Hanoi city, were suddenly chased, beaten, kicked, kicked, snatched and thrown the phone by 3 subjects, causing the reporter to suffer injuries to the head, temple, left and right wrists, causing bleeding. The hooligan behavior of this group of subjects has caused confusion and indignation among members of the press.

Affirming that this is a serious violation of the Press Law, the Vietnam Journalists Association requested the Hanoi People's Committee and the Hanoi Police to continue to urge and direct the relevant agencies to investigate, clarify and strictly handle those who assaulted the journalists, ensuring favorable and safe conditions for reporters of press agencies when working in the city. This is also a necessary action to protect the legal right to practice and the honor and dignity of journalists.
