The conference will focus on discussing many important issues in cooperation in developing trade promotion and import-export activities in the Mekong Delta region such as: Linking the development of export value chains for manufactured industrial products, supporting industries, high-quality agricultural products (such as rice, vegetables, fruits, etc.); Linking the development of logistics services for export, effectively exploiting marine economic products for export; Linking the development of energy fields, infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters for export production; Cooperating and linking to implement regional-scale trade promotion programs, etc.
On the sidelines of the conference, there will be a space to display and promote products of localities and businesses in the region, creating opportunities for trade connections between suppliers of goods and services in the Mekong Delta with import-export businesses and trade promotion organizations.
The Mekong Delta region consists of 13 provinces, accounting for 13% of the area and 18% of the country's population, holding a particularly important position in terms of the economy and the overall development of the country. The Mekong Delta has many potentials, opportunities, and advantages for development; it is the largest production center in the country for food, foodstuffs, seafood, fruits, etc. According to the development goals set out by 2030, the average growth of the Mekong Delta region in the period of 2021 - 2030 will reach about 6.5 - 7% / year, the economic scale in 2030 will be 2 - 2.5 times larger than in 2021, leading to a huge demand for logistics services.
In recent times, the Mekong Delta has achieved many outstanding socio-economic results, but they are not commensurate with its potential and advantages. One of the reasons is that the logistics sector has not yet developed, creating bottlenecks, limiting competitiveness and development opportunities. To develop quickly and sustainably, the Mekong Delta needs to promote its competitive advantages, comparative advantages, and improve its position in the global value chain.
Therefore, with the participation of a large number of delegates from agencies, businesses and localities, the Conference on Trade Promotion and Import-Export Development in the Mekong Delta is expected to create positive results, promote import-export activities, attract investment and bring the trade of the Mekong Delta to a new level.
