On December 15, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha chaired an online conference with localities on the Plan to implement the National Power Development Plan for the 2021-2030 period, with a vision to 2050 (Power Plan VIII). At the provincial bridge, there were comrades: Tran Quoc Nam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Phan Tan Canh, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee co-chaired; representatives of leaders of relevant departments and branches.

The Power Plan VIII approved by the Prime Minister (according to Decision No. 500/QD-TTg dated May 15, 2023 of the Prime Minister) has identified the viewpoints, goals, visions, development orientations and list of priority investment projects of the power sector, as well as specific solutions to develop the power sector with a long-term, effective and sustainable vision, creating a foundation to promote rapid and sustainable development of the country. According to the Report on data on proposed lists of renewable energy (RE) projects of localities and difficulties and obstacles at the conference, it shows that the proposed list of RE sources of localities has not met the requirements of Notice No. 453/TB-VPCP and Official Dispatch No. 7704/BCT-DL. Specifically: 15/61 provinces and cities did not propose a list of RE source projects; Of the 46/61 provinces and cities that have proposed a list of renewable energy sources, only 11 localities have developed a list of projects suitable for the scale of renewable energy sources and small hydropower allocated to each province/city as stated in Document No. 7146/TTr-BCT.

Comrades: Tran Quoc Nam, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Phan Tan Canh, member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee co-chaired at the bridge point of our province.

Most provinces and cities have proposed a much larger capacity than the planned capacity. Through research and review of legal regulations on planning and related legal regulations, the Ministry of Industry and Trade recommends that the issuance of a Plan to implement the 8th Power Plan in 2 implementation phases is necessary to implement the identified contents on responsibilities, progress and resource mobilization to implement projects in the power sector.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade to continue to closely coordinate with localities to quickly identify the list of projects and capacity scale according to the type of power source to supplement and complete the Plan for implementing the 8th Power Plan. He requested localities to continue updating information and data according to groups to ensure the implementation of the goals, tasks and solutions in each phase of the Plan.
