This afternoon (July 2), in Ho Chi Minh City, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang chaired a press conference to inform about the 4th Conference of Overseas Vietnamese around the world (HNVK4) and the Forum of Overseas Vietnamese Intellectuals and Experts in 2024.

According to the Deputy Minister, this is a meaningful event as a “Dien Hong Conference” of overseas Vietnamese. The Prime Minister is expected to attend and give a speech at the opening session of the 4th Overseas Vietnamese Conference and Forum.

According to Ms. Le Thi Thu Hang, this event is of great significance, especially in the context of the overseas Vietnamese community wishing to contribute with the people of the whole country, realizing the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country. The conference will enhance information, disseminate the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws towards overseas Vietnamese. In addition, the conference will create a forum for domestic agencies to grasp the situation, aspirations, difficulties and problems of overseas Vietnamese, thereby promoting care and support.

The conference also created a forum for overseas Vietnamese, especially intellectuals and businessmen, to contribute ideas and suggestions for the country's construction and development in the new situation; strengthen the connection between overseas Vietnamese businessmen and intellectual experts with the domestic sector, especially localities, enterprises and institutes, research facilities, technology transfer and application; promote overseas Vietnamese investment as well as connect domestic and foreign innovation networks.

Regarding the forum, Ms. Hang said there will be 4 thematic sessions, including: "Overseas Vietnamese and the development of high technology in Vietnam", "Overseas Vietnamese businesses and entrepreneurs accompanying the country", "Great national unity, association work and the role of the young generation of overseas Vietnamese" and "Overseas Vietnamese - Ambassadors of Vietnamese culture and language". At the same time, the conference also has a program of field surveys, meetings and exchanges with localities and domestic businesses.

It is known that the Overseas Vietnamese Conference worldwide has been held three times in 2009, 2012, and 2016. These conferences have always received special attention and high appreciation from senior leaders, ministries, departments, localities, and overseas Vietnamese communities.

In parallel with the conference, the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese will preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies to organize the Vietnam Summer Camp 2024.

Vietnam Summer Camp 2024 has the participation of 120 delegates aged 16 - 24, who are students, university students, and young generations of Vietnamese people living abroad. The campers will participate in activities such as visiting historical sites, scenic spots; experiencing traditional culture; cultural and sports exchanges; social charity activities; offering incense to commemorate and pay tribute to ancestors, heroic martyrs, etc.

The Vietnam Summer Camp 2024, themed “A Country Full of Joy,” will take place from July 14-29 in many localities across the North, Central, and South. The camp will open in Hanoi and close in Ho Chi Minh City.
