Symposium on traffic safety for students

On November 2, the Government Office coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security and the National Traffic Safety Committee to organize a conference on ensuring traffic safety for students. The conference was held in person and online at provincial, district and commune levels nationwide. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang chaired the conference. Attending the conference at the provincial bridge were members of the Provincial Party Committee: Nguyen Long Bien, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Huynh Tan Hanh, Director of the Provincial Police Department.

At the conference, delegates listened to the leaders of the Ministry of Public Security report on the situation and results of ensuring order and traffic safety for students from the beginning of 2023 to present and the direction and tasks to strengthen traffic safety for students in the coming time. Accordingly, the work of ensuring order and traffic safety in recent times has received attention from the Party and the State, issuing many documents to direct ministries, departments, branches, localities, and socio-political organizations to promote propaganda work, synchronously deploy many solutions to contribute to creating positive changes in the work of ensuring order and traffic safety in general and ensuring traffic safety for students in particular. However, the number of traffic accidents (TNGT) involving students is still high. From December 15, 2022 to October 14, 2023, there were 881 traffic accidents involving students nationwide, killing 490 people and injuring 827 people. Compared to the same period in 2022, there were 8 more cases, 33 fewer deaths, and 34 fewer injuries. Traffic accidents have serious consequences for students, their families, and society.

Comrade Nguyen Long Bien, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee chaired the conference.

At the conference, leaders of ministries, departments, branches and localities discussed and shared to clarify the current situation, experiences, creative and effective ways of doing things and proposed many solutions to effectively implement the work of ensuring order and traffic safety for students in the coming time.

Concluding the conference, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Luu Quang acknowledged and accepted the opinions and proposed solutions of the delegates. He requested that all levels, sectors and localities not be subjective; consider including the content of ensuring order and traffic safety for students in the year-end review and evaluation of results at a number of agencies and units; continue to promote propaganda to raise awareness among people and students in ensuring order and traffic safety in the coming time.
