According to the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the whole province currently has more than 139,325 hectares of forest land, of which 131,996 hectares are natural forests and 7,328 hectares are planted forests, with a forest cover rate of 47.11%, an increase of 4.7% compared to 2016. In the period of 2016-2022, the forest rangers coordinated with the BVR unit and local authorities to organize 15,823 BVR inspections and sweeps; detected and prevented 3,564 violations of the law in the forestry sector; handled 3,386 cases, confiscated 981m3 of wood, over 1,000 means of transport of various types, 113 chainsaws, and collected nearly 9.51 billion VND for the budget. In addition, the whole province has planted 4,897.5 hectares of forest; protected and promoted forest regeneration and restoration of 26,806 hectares. Implementing the contract of forest protection and development of 465,887 hectares to the contract recipients and the community, with a total cost of 145,341 billion VND. The effectiveness of forest management, protection and development has contributed to increasing the value of forest environmental services, the result in 2022 is 12.3 billion VND, 3 times higher than in 2016.

Concluding the conference, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee acknowledged the efforts of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, together with other departments, units and localities, in forest protection management in the past time, creating many positive changes. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee pointed out the remaining shortcomings and limitations in the management of planning for 3 types of forests, the complicated situation of violations of forestry laws, and the difficulties in people's livelihoods from forests. At the same time, he suggested that in the coming time, the forestry sector, together with units and localities, need to promote the effectiveness of forest protection management in association with ensuring livelihoods and socio-economic development goals of the province. There should be solutions to synchronously integrate forestry planning data with provincial planning and land use planning to manage forestry land; strictly and correctly implement regulations on forest conversion and forest land to ensure both in documents and in the field. Focus on management and forest protection, mobilize the active and effective participation of forces and localities in border areas. Relevant sectors and localities need to fully update land use planning, forest area, and forest land to manage, protect, and develop forests to fulfill the set planning targets. Review and advise the Provincial People's Committee to propose central levels to support resources for the province in forest protection work.
