Provincial Red Cross Society: Organizing a rally in response to National Voluntary Blood Donation Day

STO - On the morning of April 17, at Van Ngoc Chinh High School (My Xuyen district), the Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation of Soc Trang province held a rally to respond to the National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (April 7) in 2025 with the message "Donate blood - Give life". Attending the program were comrade Do Van Tuan - Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society, Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Voluntary Blood Donation Steering Committee; leaders of the My Xuyen district Red Cross Society, local authorities; and a large number of cadres, teachers and students of Van Ngoc Chinh High School.

Since 2000, the Prime Minister has issued Decision No. 43/2000/QD-TTg on mobilizing and encouraging people to donate blood voluntarily and taking April 7 every year as National Voluntary Blood Donation Day. This is a turning point that has created a strong change in the awareness and actions of all levels of government, organizations from the central to local levels, and all classes of people. Thanks to that, the voluntary blood donation movement has achieved encouraging results, contributing to the cause of protecting, caring for and improving people's health.

Speaking at the rally, Comrade Do Van Tuan - Chairman of the Provincial Red Cross Society emphasized: “Voluntary blood donation is a noble humanitarian act, in line with the tradition of charity of the Vietnamese people, contributing to saving the lives of patients, because blood is a special treatment “medicine” that science has not yet found a substitute for and can only be donated from person to person. With that meaning, I call on cadres, civil servants, public employees, union members, association members, and people in the province to participate in voluntary blood donation when there is a campaign to save the lives of others with a part of their blood…”.

In 2025, marking the 25th anniversary of National Voluntary Blood Donation Day (April 7, 2000 - April 7, 2025), at the ceremony, delegates also listened to the leaders of Van Ngoc Chinh High School speak in response to the voluntary blood donation movement in schools, especially with the extremely meaningful sharing of Mr. Vo Van Sieu in Dinh Hoa Hamlet, Gia Hoa 1 Commune, My Xuyen District, one of the typical volunteers with 36 times of volunteering to donate blood.

After the rally, many volunteers including officials, civil servants, armed forces, youth union members and people in My Xuyen district participated in donating blood; the organizing committee expected to receive about 250 units of blood this time.
