According to the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai province, up to now, preparations for the organization of the Vietnam - China International Trade Fair (Lao Cai) 2023 are being carried out urgently, completing the final preparation stages. Relevant agencies have completed maintenance and repair of some items of the Kim Thanh Exhibition Fair Center; completed grass cutting, cleaning the fair area, re-checking electrical and water equipment... to serve the activities within the framework of the fair.

Through trade promotion activities, up to now, 21 provinces and cities in the country have registered 34 shelves to display products with export strengths; 152 organizations and enterprises from 46 provinces and cities have registered to participate in 349 outdoor standard booths.
On the Chinese and third countries side: In addition to the general decoration area, the Chinese side has 5 special booths of key enterprises and large enterprises. In addition, enterprises and organizations on the Chinese and third countries side have registered to participate in 224 standard outdoor booths.
The 23rd Vietnam - China International Trade Fair (Lao Cai) in 2023 will take place for 6 days (November 10 - 15) at Kim Thanh Exhibition and Fair Center, Duyen Hai Ward, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province. The opening ceremony of the Fair will take place at 7:30 p.m. on November 10.
The fair has the theme: "Promoting the role of bridging Lao Cai and Yunnan - promoting comprehensive cooperation and sustainable development", with a scale of 600 - 700 booths, including booths of enterprises from Vietnam, China, and other countries and territories.
The fair displays, introduces, advertises and promotes products such as: Agricultural, forestry, aquatic products, food, medicinal materials; machinery, equipment, raw materials, chemicals, construction materials; electronics, refrigeration, household electrical appliances, household appliances; footwear; consumer goods; wooden household furniture, handicrafts... Exhibition booths promote investment, trade and tourism , in which priority is given to products with import and export demand through Lao Cai province's border gates, products that contribute to promoting Lao Cai tourism.
The fair is an important trade promotion activity to promote cooperation, economic development, investment, tourism and services between Lao Cai and localities of Vietnam with Yunnan province and localities of China, contributing to enhancing trade exchanges between the two sides, boosting the growth of import and export turnover through Lao Cai international border gate, helping businesses learn about and penetrate the market, creating momentum for expansion.
On the Lao Cai side, the border gate economy is one of the strengths of the local economy. The total value of import and export, trading and exchange of goods through Lao Cai border gates in October 2023 reached 213 million USD, down 5.09% compared to September 2023, up 14.44% compared to October 2022; the value in 10 months reached 1,759.47 million USD, down 2.86% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 35.19% of the annual plan.
Of which, the export value reached 83.8 million USD, down 20.36% compared to September 2023, up 60.34% over the same period in 2022. The export value in 10 months reached 771.87 million USD, up 3.8% over the same period in 2022, reaching 35.82% of the yearly plan.
Import value reached 57.25 million USD, up 7.44% compared to September 2023, up 7.67% compared to the same period in 2022. Import value in 10 months reached 446.03 million USD, down 12.65% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 51.477% of the annual plan.
Other types reached 71.95 million USD, up 9.17% compared to September 2023, down 10.82% compared to the same period in 2022 and 10 months reached 541.58 million USD, down 2.78% compared to the same period in 2022, reaching 27.35% of the yearly plan.
Also in October, certificates of origin (C/O) were issued for more than 19,300 tons of goods, worth 63 million USD. In the past 10 months, C/Os were issued for more than 279,000 tons of goods (dragon fruit, watermelon, banana, jackfruit, mango, tapioca starch, dried cassava chips, cinnamon essential oil, fresh chili, durian, fresh lychee), worth about 564 million USD.
The number of import and export vehicles passing through Kim Thanh Border Gate reaches over 400 vehicles/day, while at Lao Cai International Railway Station there are 2-4 exit and entry trains/day.
