Vietnam-Laos Defense Academy strengthens ties

In the context of complicated developments in the international and regional situation, Laos and Vietnam must further strengthen and consolidate solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation.

On the morning of December 12 in the capital Vientiane, the Vietnam National Defense Academy and the Kaysone Phomvihane National Defense Academy solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate the 15th anniversary of their twinning cooperation.

These are the two highest academies in the system of academies and schools in the Vietnam People's Army and the Lao People's Army, playing an important role in training and fostering senior officials and researching military science and arts of the two countries.

Attending the event were Senior Lieutenant General Vongkham Phommakon, Deputy Minister of National Defense of Laos; Lieutenant General Do Van Banh, Political Commissar of the Vietnam National Defense Academy; representatives of the Vietnam Defense Attaché Office in Laos, and many generals, officers, soldiers and students of the Kaysone Phomvihane National Defense Academy.

Speaking at the ceremony, Major General Keosouvanh Inthavongsa, Director of the Kaysone Phomvihane National Defense Academy, said that over the past 15 years, the cooperative relationship between the Vietnam National Defense Academy and the Kaysone Phomvihane National Defense Academy has been continuously strengthened and developed. The two sides regularly organize visits, exchange lessons and teaching methods. In particular, the Vietnam National Defense Academy has supported the Kaysone Phomvihane National Defense Academy in building and repairing infrastructure, building a team of cadres and teachers, helping to complete the technical documentation system of the training center and using simulation programs to serve military command operations, tactical-strategic drills and library management training, etc., in order to foster the special friendship and solidarity of the two Academies.

Major General Keosouvanh shared that in the context of the complicated and unpredictable developments in the international and regional situation, hostile forces are always looking for ways and using sophisticated and cunning tricks to divide the special solidarity between the Lao and Vietnamese peoples. Laos and Vietnam must further strengthen and consolidate the solidarity, special friendship and comprehensive cooperation, especially between the two countries and between the two National Defense Academies, to become stronger and deeper than ever.

Also at the ceremony, Lieutenant General Do Van Banh emphasized that this event is very important for the two Academies of the two countries to jointly evaluate the achieved results and propose directions for cooperation in the coming time, contributing significantly to the cause of building the army, strengthening national defense, and protecting the Fatherland of the two countries; at the same time, promoting the friendship, solidarity, tradition of attachment, loyalty, steadfastness, and affection between the two Academies, further deepening the great traditional friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos.

At the end of the ceremony, the representative of the Lao Ministry of National Defense awarded the 2nd and 3rd class Military Exploit Medals to 26 officers and lecturers of the Vietnam National Defense Academy for their outstanding achievements in contributing to strengthening the friendship, special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two Parties, two States, two Armies and peoples of Laos and Vietnam.

Also on this occasion, the Vietnam National Defense Academy and Kaysone Phomvihane National Defense Academy signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation for the next phase./.
