Things to note when choosing a master's degree in a different field.
Circular No. 15 of 2014 issued by the Ministry of Education and Training allows students to enroll in master's degree programs in unrelated fields in Vietnam. However, students must meet the requirements for a university degree and participate in supplementary courses and examinations related to that field of study.
Currently, master's degree programs are relatively expensive and require serious commitment from students. If you don't have much time to invest in your studies, you should carefully consider pursuing a master's degree in a field unrelated to your major.
Students need to thoroughly research the program, including its structure and the ability to integrate knowledge with their original field of study. For example, if you want to pursue a master's degree in a field unrelated to Information Technology, your previous studies should be related to technology, because without any IT-related knowledge, it will be difficult to keep up with the learning pace and graduate.
In particular, students should pay attention to the entry requirements of the chosen field of study and its suitability to their career goals and future job opportunities. This will help them accurately assess whether the field of study truly aligns with their personal goals, avoiding wasted time and distractions from their studies.

For applicants with a university degree awarded by a foreign university, a certified translation into Vietnamese is required, along with a certificate of qualification from the Department of Quality Management of the Ministry of Education and Training .

- Applicants must have at least two years of experience in a professional field relevant to their chosen specialization.
- Passing the master's entrance exam, which includes three blocks of knowledge: foundational knowledge in the field, specialized knowledge, and English.
- Candidates who meet the foreign language requirements may be exempt from the English exam (minimum IELTS score of 6.0 or equivalent).
- Prepare all necessary documents and submit them on time; ensure you are in good health to study.
The above are some notes for students planning to pursue a master's degree in a different field. You can refer to them to prepare the best plan for yourself.
