VAS students participate in the World Scholar's Cup international academic competition (Tournament of Champions) at Yale University (USA)
According to the announcement from the organizing committee of the international academic competition The World Scholar's Cup (WSC) 2023 held in the US in early November, Vietnamese students studying at Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) won 54 medals at the world finals.
The World Scholar's Cup (WSC) was established in 2006 and is considered the largest and most prestigious international academic competition annually for students aged 8 to 18 around the world.
The competition is for students of specific ages: Primary (8 to 11 years old), Junior (12 to 14 years old), Senior (15 to 18 years old) and is organized in 3 rounds: Regional rounds, Global rounds and Tournament of Champions.
In particular, the annual world finals held at Yale University are the biggest highlight of the competition. Participating in the finals is a source of pride for the "global scholars" who have won in previous rounds.
Students promote Vietnamese culture at the contest
It is known that in 2023, VAS has 19 students participating in the world finals competing in 4 competitions: Team debate, Collaborative writing, Scholar's challenge, and Scholar's bowl. The competition content includes knowledge in 6 areas: Art & Music, Literature & Media, Science & Tech, History, Social Studies, and a Special Area.
With many challenges in terms of skills, knowledge and team spirit, the competition requires "scholars" to demonstrate not only their language and academic abilities but also their knowledge in all areas of society. Participating in the competition, students have the opportunity to interact, exchange and share culture with international friends, while promoting the cultural beauty of Vietnam.
As a result, VAS students won 25 gold medals and 29 silver medals at the WSC 2023 world finals.
