Non-public primary school students will receive tuition support according to the resolution of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council.

On January 17, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training deployed to the district and Thu Duc City Education and Training Departments the process of implementing tuition support for students of non-public schools in areas without enough public schools for the 2023-2024 school year.

In Decision No. 4692, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee identified 147 wards, communes, and towns in the city that do not have enough public primary schools for the 2023-2024 school year.

For example, District 1 has 4 wards without enough public primary schools: Co Giang, Cau Kho, Cau Ong Lanh, Da Kao. Thu Duc City is the locality with the most public primary school shortage, with 33 wards; Binh Tan District has 9 wards; Tan Binh District has 15 wards...

According to Resolution 16 of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council, in the 2023-2024 school year, primary school students at non-public schools in the 147 wards, communes and towns mentioned above will be supported at 2 levels:

  • 300,000 VND/month: for group 1, students in Thu Duc City and districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan;
  • 100,000 VND/month: for group 2, students studying in Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio districts.

Ho Chi Minh City will directly provide tuition support money to families of primary school students at non-public schools at the end of the school year based on the actual number of months of study (no more than 9 months/school year).

Mr. Le Hoai Nam, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, said that the principals of non-public schools are responsible for sending the list of students enjoying the policy along with the unit's records and account information to the Department of Education and Training for appraisal.

The Departments of Education and Training are responsible for appraising the documents. Based on the annual budget estimates assigned and allocated by the competent authority, the Departments of Education and Training are responsible for withdrawing the budget estimates from the treasury to transfer to non-public schools with students.

Mr. Nam requested that non-public schools be responsible for paying correctly to supported students, and at the same time, make settlement records including a list of students receiving tuition support (with signatures) to the Department of Education and Training.
