Coming to this festival, students experienced 11 interactive game booths, helping to reinforce knowledge about gender equality, oral hygiene, proper nutrition, self-protection skills and reading habits. The games were designed in the form of group experiences and interactions, ensuring they were suitable for primary school age, creating opportunities for exercise and helping students to remember knowledge naturally and enthusiastically.
At the Golden Bell booth, children reviewed knowledge about gender equality and proper nutrition - the contents that the Happy School project has communicated and trained to teachers and students throughout the past year of implementation.
“My favorite is the Super Memory game booth. I have learned about the food pyramid in class before, but this is the first time I have actually memorized the order and classification of each food item.” – Khanh Lan, a student of class 4A shared.
Directly preparing and operating the game booths are 12 volunteers from Nghe An NASU Sugarcane Company Limited ( TH Group ). Operating the Secret Gift Box booth, Ms. Vi Thi Kim Chi, an employee of NASU Company, expressed: “What impressed me most was the positive energy and innocence of the students. Seeing them having fun, expressing themselves and being listened to, I felt more clearly than ever the meaning of the phrase 'happy school'.”
This is the second year that volunteers from NASU Company have accompanied the Festival. Ha Son Commune is one of the company's sugarcane material areas. The participation in the Reading Culture Promotion Festival in particular and the Happy School Project in general demonstrates the company's social responsibility for the local socio -economic development.
“For NASU, contributing to building an environment where children are happy to study and happy to play is of special significance. Because when children grow up in a positive and kind space, it is not only the foundation for personal development, but also the first step to spreading happiness more widely in the community, creating a sustainable society.” – Mr. Ngo Van Tu, General Director of NASU Company shared at the event.
Presentation on the topic of School Violence won First Prize in the Young Media Competition |
A highlight of the festival was the communication contest using drawings, wall newspapers and comics with the participation of 5 teams of 18 students. The entries demonstrated the creativity and diverse perspectives of the students on the topics of gender equality, personal hygiene, environmental protection, clean water sources and school violence. The first prize went to the work entitled “Happy School”, expressing the students’ wish for a non-violent learning environment, filled with laughter, love and respect.
The festival was held on the occasion of Vietnam Book and Reading Culture Day. On this occasion, the For Vietnamese Stature Fund donated nearly 5,000 books to 22 primary and secondary schools in Quy Hop district, and also awarded 20 scholarships worth a total of 30 million VND to students in difficult circumstances. In addition, the TH School system also donated 33 used laptops to Ha Son Primary School, contributing to creating conditions for students to get acquainted with technology and practice computer skills right from primary school.
After a year of implementation, the event also officially concluded the Happy School project for the 2024-2025 school year with many impressive results. With a total budget of nearly 1.2 billion VND, the project has carried out many practical activities such as upgrading facilities, donating books, supporting students in difficult circumstances, organizing training and communication for teachers, parents and students on topics such as community medicine, gender equality, positive discipline, physicaleducation , etc. By the end of the school year, more than 13,000 people had directly benefited from the project, including 12,881 students.
"The Happy School project that the Foundation for Vietnamese Stature is implementing comes from a very simple educational philosophy: education is not only about imparting knowledge, but also contributing to the comprehensive development of people - physically, intellectually, personality and emotionally. In that journey, we always apply a child-centered approach, based on the foundation of children's rights, with the desire to create a society where all children are listened to, respected and safe" - Ms. Tran Hong Diep, Director of the Foundation for Vietnamese Stature, shared.
Assessing the project's activities, Mr. Ngo Xuan Song, Principal of Ha Son Primary School, said: “The Happy School Project has provided the school with comprehensive support, from improving learning conditions to enhancing skills for both teachers and students. What is more special is the connection that the project creates between families, schools and the community, thereby forming a warm learning environment where children are listened to, understood and developed both physically and mentally. This is also the foundation for us to continue to maintain and expand those positive values in the journey to build a truly happy school.”
The 2024-2025 school year marks the third year of the Happy School project being implemented with the support of TH Group and Bac A Commercial Joint Stock Bank. The project is a comprehensive solution to contribute to improving facilities and enhancing the capacity of teachers and students in schools in disadvantaged areas. This is one of the next efforts of the For Vietnamese Stature Fund to contribute to the National Target Programs and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
