(Dan Tri) - Ho Chi Minh City continues to implement the policy of supporting free tuition for the 2024-2025 school year for secondary school students at a rate of 30,000-60,000 students/month depending on the area.
At the regular year-end meeting on the morning of December 11, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council officially approved a special policy to support tuition fees for public and non-public secondary school students and continuing secondary education students in the city for the 2024-2025 school year.
Support level is 30,000-600,000 VND/student/month according to two groups of locations.
Group 1 is students from schools in Thu Duc City and districts 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan, collect 60,000 VND/student.

Group 2 is students from Nha Be, Hoc Mon, Can Gio, Cu Chi, Binh Chanh, charged 30,000 VND/student.
The support level is applied for 9 months of the 2024-2025 school year, with funding taken from the Ho Chi Minh City budget.
Non-public secondary school students apply the above support level, except for schools with foreign investment.
Thus, this is the fourth consecutive year that Ho Chi Minh City has implemented a policy of tuition support for students in the city.
In the 2021-2022 school year, the city will support 100% of public tuition fees with a total budget support of 604.5 billion VND.
In the 2022-2023 school year, the difference due to tuition fee adjustment will be supported with a total amount of VND 1,518.8 billion from the city budget.
In the 2023-2024 school year, the difference due to adjusted tuition fees for preschool and high school and 100% tuition support for secondary school with a policy implementation budget of VND 1,847 billion will be supported. Of which, the budget for exempting tuition fees for secondary school students is VND 1,108 billion (public: VND 1,042 billion, non-public: VND 66 billion).
The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee assessed that the tuition support policy is in line with the people's wishes, creating peace of mind and motivation for parents and people to have conditions to develop the economy and produce and restore the economy after a long period of coping with the epidemic; students can rest assured to go to school without having to take time off or drop out of school because of economic conditions and not being able to pay tuition.
