In recent days, many parents whose children attend the secondary school of Hiep Hoa Primary and Secondary School have been upset that their children have to go to school on the Hung Kings' death anniversary holiday (March 10, April 18) because the school organized make-up classes so that students would have a day off on Saturday (April 20) so that teachers could attend the principal's daughter's wedding.
Hiep Hoa Primary and Secondary School, where students have to go to make up school on the Hung Kings' death anniversary holiday
On the afternoon of April 19, speaking with Thanh Nien reporter, Mr. Vu Minh Quyet, Head of Education and Training Department of Vu Thu district, confirmed the incident as reported by the parents.
"Also this afternoon (April 19 - PV), Mr. Nguyen Thang Thien, Principal of Hiep Hoa Primary and Secondary School, submitted an explanation to the Department of Education and Training, but the explanation did not include enough information as required by the district leaders. Therefore, we asked Mr. Thien to supplement it. From now until tomorrow morning (April 20 - PV), Mr. Thien must complete the explanation and submit it here so we can report to the district," said Mr. Quyet.
Mr. Quyet affirmed that forcing students to go to school on holidays is against regulations, because previously, the Department of Education and Training of Thai Binh province had issued a document directing schools to let students take the day off on the anniversary of the death of the ancestors.
Regarding the disciplinary action for this case, Mr. Quyet said: "We are currently waiting to receive an explanation and will report to the district. The district will consider it. Chairman of the People's Committee of Vu Thu District will direct the departments and offices. For example, regarding the review of cadres, the Department of Internal Affairs will advise the leaders to impose appropriate disciplinary action."
It is known that Hiep Hoa Primary and Secondary School had not previously reported to the Department of Education and Training of Vu Thu District about the change in the school schedule. For now, the Department of Education and Training of Vu Thu District has directed that on April 20 (Saturday), the school must still ensure that teaching and learning activities are organized according to the timetable.
On the afternoon of April 19, the reporter contacted Mr. Nguyen Thang Thien many times, but he did not answer the phone.
