On May 24, the Hanoi Department of Education and Training held a ceremony to honor outstanding students of the capital in the 2022-2023 school year.
Reporting on the achievements of the education and training sector in the past school year, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Nguyen Quang Tuan said that with the efforts and determination of the entire sector, the attention and close direction of the Central Government and the city, in the 2022-2023 school year, the capital's education and training sector has focused on drastically implementing key tasks. All levels of education have continuously made efforts and strived to excellently complete assigned tasks and achieved many comprehensive and outstanding achievements.
Last school year, Hanoi continued to maintain its leading educational quality. The capital’s students affirmed their leading position in the country in national and international competitions for excellent students with 8 international prizes; 141 national prizes; and also topped the 5th “Students with Startup Ideas” Competition organized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
The scale of education in Hanoi continues to be stable and has strong development with 2,840 schools, nearly 2.2 million students, and 123,000 teachers. Hanoi has completed the review of the entire school network in the city by 2030, with a vision to 2045. Conditions for facilities, equipment, and application of information technology to serve teaching and learning in schools continue to be invested in the direction of standardization, synchronization, and modernization.

In addition, the city is interested in building and establishing 24 new schools at all levels; renovating and repairing 528 schools; the work of building national standard schools and high-quality schools is being focused on. By April 2023, the rate of public schools meeting national standards in the whole city is 72.4%, recognizing 23 high-quality schools; implementing preparation work for investment in building 7 advanced and modern inter-level schools with an area of 5 hectares or more.
Online enrollment for primary classes is ensured to be serious, public, transparent, and convenient for the people. Administrative reform and application of information technology in the field of education and training have made much progress. The Department of Education and Training established the Intelligent Education Operations Center (IOC) to serve the administration and management of educational activities throughout the city.
On behalf of the city's leaders, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that over the past years, Hanoi has always paid attention to implementing many mechanisms and policies and allocating investment resources for the capital's education and training; Hanoi has gradually fundamentally and comprehensively innovated education and training work in the spirit of Resolution 29.
Continuing the achievements, in the 2022-2023 school year, the Capital Education and Training sector has closely followed the direction of the Central Government, the City Party Committee, the People's Council, and the City People's Committee, proactively and creatively directed and guided the implementation of tasks at all levels and grades, and achieved many outstanding achievements. These achievements are a testament to the efforts and talents of each individual, the sharing and companionship of friends, and the dedicated help and teaching of teachers; and the care of parents and families.

The Chairman of the City People's Committee expressed his sincere thanks to the team of teachers and the collective of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Capital's Education and Training sector for their dedication to beloved students, training many talented students for the Capital, worthy of the tradition of studiousness of the thousand-year-old Capital of Culture as well as praising, recognizing and appreciating the important results that the Capital's Education and Training sector has achieved in the 2022-2023 school year.
Chairman Tran Sy Thanh also requested the Department of Education and Training to proactively coordinate with departments, branches, districts, towns and cities to mobilize and effectively promote potentials, strengths and investment resources for the cause of education and training development; pay attention to investing in building facilities, trees, creating a green, clean and beautiful pedagogical environment; prioritize training excellent national and international students, in parallel with gradually improving the quality of mass education.
The Hanoi Department of Education and Training needs to effectively implement the comprehensive general education program; promote the application of information technology in management, especially in innovating teaching and learning methods associated with the construction of e-schools; focus on foreign language training, creating equal opportunities in accessing education, especially for poor children in remote and isolated areas.
