Russian scholar: Vietnam implements multilateral diplomacy when participating in expanded BRICS

VOV.VN - On October 22, the Orientalia Rossica newspaper published an article by Dr. Alexander Korolev, Russian Higher School of Economics (HSE), titled "Vietnam implements multilateral diplomacy policy when attending the expanded BRICS Summit for the first time."
According to Dr. Alexander Korolev, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s participation in the BRICS Summit demonstrates Vietnam’s deep interest in the development process of BRICS, and its appreciation of the growing role and influence of BRICS in addressing global issues and challenges. At the same time, this shows Vietnam’s respect for multilateral cooperation mechanisms.
Dr. Alexander Korolev (Source: hse.ru) Russian scholars also emphasized the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, multilateralization, diversification, proactive and active international integration comprehensively, deeply and effectively, maintaining a peaceful and stable environment, constantly enhancing Vietnam's international position and prestige, including promoting bilateral diplomacy and raising the level of multilateral diplomacy.
Dr. Alexander Korolev affirmed the potential areas of cooperation between BRICS countries and Vietnam such as digital transformation, green transformation, artificial intelligence, technological capacity building, sustainable development, and effective response to global challenges such as natural disasters, epidemics, and climate change.
Russian experts also highly appreciated Vietnam's role in ASEAN, and said that a promising direction is to strengthen cooperation between BRICS and ASEAN. Dr. Alexander Korolev emphasized that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's participation in the expanded BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia is an important milestone in deepening Russia-Vietnam cooperation. Russian scholars said that the two sides need to promote new projects and areas of cooperation, expand the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), and develop the transportation and logistics system between the two countries.
