On the morning of September 26, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh chaired a meeting of the Organizing Committee to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).
Attending the meeting were Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Hong Son and Vice Chairmen of the City People's Committee: Ha Minh Hai and Vu Thu Ha.
Reporting at the meeting, Director of the Hanoi Department of Culture and Sports Do Dinh Hong said that the city has well organized information and propaganda activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day, the achievements in socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security of Hanoi over the past 70 years; promoting the image of the Capital on mass media.
The Standing Committee of the Hanoi Party Committee has reviewed and decided to stop and adjust the scale and time of organizing activities due to the impact of storm No. 3, which caused great consequences and damage to a number of northern provinces and cities, including the capital Hanoi. Specifically, Hanoi City stopped 8 activities, including stopping the fireworks display on the evening of October 10, 2024 at 30 locations in the city; stopping the light art performance to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation Day of the Capital.
The city also adjusted the scale and time of 7 activities, including reducing the scale of the special art program "Peace City - Flying Dragon City" on the evening of October 10 from being held at My Dinh National Stadium to being held at Thang Long Imperial Citadel.
The city also ensures conditions for facilities, equipment, security and order... to successfully organize the "Cultural Festival for Peace" to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital and the 25th anniversary of Hanoi being honored as "City for Peace".
In addition, the National Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital will be held on the morning of October 10, 2024 at the National Convention Center with about 3,000 delegates attending. The City People's Committee has drafted a plan for the National Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital; completed the draft plan and submitted it to the City Party Committee to report to the Central Propaganda Department, the Standing Secretariat, and the National Steering Committee for the celebration of major holidays in the 3 years 2022-2025.
After the members of the Organizing Committee discussed and concluded the meeting, Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh affirmed that the organization of events and programs in the series of activities to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Liberation of the Capital must ensure comprehensiveness and prominence, clearly demonstrating the role of the Capital for the whole country.
Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Tran Sy Thanh also requested that information and communication work on the 70th anniversary of the Capital Liberation Day must be promoted, ensuring the right scope, level and suitability. At the same time, it must clearly show gratitude for the sacrifices of the Party Committee, government, army and people of Hanoi in particular and localities across the country in general who contributed to the liberation of the Capital more than 70 years ago.
The Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee requested units to focus on completing the reception plan, assigning specific tasks in the National Celebration and programs with the participation of Party and State leaders, local and international guests.
The Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested the People's Committees of 30 districts, towns and cities to organize environmental sanitation and decorate the streets "Green - Clean - Beautiful", creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere at the grassroots level and suitable to the practical conditions of the locality.
