Hoang Thuy Linh unexpectedly won Outstanding Singer of the Year after a shocking scandal

The program to honor outstanding artists and some outstanding books in the fields of Performing Arts and Literature in 2023 took place at Bac Giang Provincial Convention Center on the evening of January 13. This is an important program of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in the field of performing arts and literature to promptly encourage and motivate artists to continue to create and contribute to the country's performing arts and literature with many literary and artistic works that are unique in content and diverse in form, contributing to the building and development of Vietnamese culture and people to meet the requirements of sustainable development of the country.

Notably, this is the first time that, in addition to honoring outstanding artists in the field of performing arts, the program also honors a number of outstanding books by authors in the genres of poetry, prose, novels, short stories, and memoirs published in 2023.

Accordingly, the program honored 10 authors with outstanding books; 87 outstanding artists and actors in the art field; 6 outstanding artists and actors in other categories in 2023 in particular as well as artists nationwide in general.

Hoang Thuy Linh unexpectedly won the Outstanding Singer of the Year award.

Among the honored categories, the Outstanding Singer of the Year award given to Hoang Thuy Linh surprised many people the most. Because in 2023, besides her achievements in music, the female singer also caused a stir with the scandal of teaching journalists when asked about her live singing ability.

When receiving the award, in addition to thanking the Organizing Committee, the Jury, the audience, the press and the seniors who have preserved the cultural heritage, Hoang Thuy Linh also promised to "look at her weaknesses to correct them, look at her strengths to promote them". The female singer also emphasized that the award will be a motivation for her to strive in her career and to contribute a little to the music environment that has helped her receive many favors.

Singer Den Vau was also named in the Community Artist category. However, due to his performance schedule, the male singer could not be present to receive the award. In the clip expressing regret for not being able to receive the award, Den Vau shared: "Den is very sorry that he could not be present to be honored due to a previously arranged performance schedule. Den would like to thank the Organizing Committee and the Voting Council. Den will continue music projects for the community to spread the value of music."

The Outstanding Film Face of the Year award was given to actress Dinh Y Nhung for her role as a mother with cerebral palsy in the film "Mom! Butterfly Day" by director Luu Huynh. She is a mother who, despite having cerebral palsy, instinctively loves her daughter and is willing to do anything to be near her. To successfully transform into this role, Dinh Y Nhung spent 8 months preparing, practicing her mouth to distort and her limbs to contract. After the film was completed, her mouth became distorted due to a habit and she had to undergo therapy. This is also the role that helped Dinh Y Nhung win the Best Actress award at the Vietnam Film Festival along with Mai Cat Vi - who played her daughter in the previous film. Unfortunately, due to being busy with an unfinished film project, the actress was not present to receive the award.

Meanwhile, the Outstanding TV Actor of the Year award was given to Meritorious Artist Hoang Hai for his role as Luu "nat" in the film "Life is still beautiful". Not only did he eat and sleep with the character, Hoang Hai also lived the life of a worker in a poor boarding house. He even ate and lived next to the garbage dump to get used to and adapt to the living conditions of the citizens there. Thanks to his sacrifice and responsibility for his work, Hoang Hai perfectly portrayed the role of Luu "nat".

In his emotional speech when receiving the award, Hoang Hai was so nervous that he mistakenly said "motivation" instead of "engine". The male artist shared: "It is truly an honor and an emotion. This is the motivation for Hoang Hai to continue to have better roles, better works to send to the audience, the motivation for Hoang Hai to strive even more".

Outstanding TV Actress of the Year was awarded to Meritorious Artist Kieu Anh, for her role as Phuong in the film "Gia dinh vui bat thuc luc". Speaking when receiving the award, Kieu Anh said: "This is a very surprising and happy award. The success of the film is due to the contribution of the entire crew. Kieu Anh would like to thank the two directors and the audience. Thank you to the audience for always loving the artists, including Kieu Anh. This will be the motivation for Kieu Anh to try harder, to make more efforts in her career".

Last year, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism assigned the Department of Performing Arts to coordinate with the Vietnam Musicians' Association, the Vietnam Dance Artists' Association, the Vietnam Stage Artists' Association and related units to successfully organize the following competitions: The 2023 National Cheo, Tuong and Folk Drama Actor Talent Competition, the 2023 National Solo and Ensemble Competition, the 2022 National Puppetry Talent Competition, the 2023 National Dance Talent Competition, the 2023 National Drama Actor Talent Competition, the 2023 National Cai Luong Actor Competition, the Chamber - Musical - Choir Singing Competition and the 2023 National Autumn Music Competition. The Organizing Committee selected each type of artist to win the First Prize from the art competitions to honor.

At the honoring program, the Organizing Committee also approved the Voting Council, which includes prestigious journalists, musicians, directors, etc., to be honored in the following categories: Outstanding Singer of the Year, Outstanding TV Actor of the Year, Outstanding Movie Actress of the Year, Community Artist, Outstanding Music and Dance Liveshow of the Year. Within the framework of the program, this year there is an additional category to introduce 10 outstanding books in the field of literature.

Specifically, some faces were honored in the fields of art: Meritorious Artist Bui Phuong May (Hanoi Cheo Theater), Tran Thi Diem Huong (Hanoi Drama Theater), Nguyen Thi Minh Thu (Vietnam Drama Theater), Ha Binh Minh (Thang Long Puppetry Theater), Nguyen Tra My (Hanoi Reform Theater), Do Vu Lan Nhung (Vietnam National Opera and Ballet Theater), Cao Hoang Linh (Vietnam Academy of Music)...

The 10 books honored include: the novel “Suddenly apricot blossoms” (Nguyen Tri Huan), the yearbook and work “Collection of military writers” (Military Literature Magazine), the story “The teacher” (Nguyen Chi Vinh), the literary criticism book “Neo chu” (Nguyen Hoai Nam), the translated novel “Con Rit” (Bui Viet Hoa), the children's story “Ca Linh goes to school” (Le Quang Trang), the poem “Dong sen tan” (Nguyen Phuc Loc Thanh), the story collection “Troi” (Nguyen Ngoc Tu), the novel “Thuong ngan” (Vinh Quyen), the monograph “Literary autonomy and the mission of freedom” (Phung Ngoc Kien, Doan Anh Duong).
