Hoang Nguyen Thanh meets with Nike ACFC representatives after breaking national record

At the Asian Marathon Championship held in Hong Kong on January 24, athlete Hoang Nguyen Thanh had an impressive breakthrough to finish with a time of 2 hours 18 minutes 43 seconds.

This achievement was later confirmed by the Vietnam Athletics Federation as a new national record for the men's marathon, breaking the 21-year record of senior athlete Nguyen Chi Dong (2 hours 21 minutes 51 seconds) set at the 22nd SEA Games.

The event attracted the attention of sports lovers in general and the running community in particular, inspiring runners across the country to persistently pursue new marathon goals.

Before coming to the race in Hong Kong, Hoang Nguyen Thanh also won the Hanoi International Half Marathon on January 1 with a time of 1 hour 6 minutes 39 seconds, breaking the old record - 1 hour 7 minutes 99 seconds - of his teammate in the national athletics team Do Quoc Luat.

In addition, he is also the first athlete in the history of Vietnamese marathon to win a gold medal at the 31st SEA Games in 2022 at My Dinh, Hanoi and then a bronze medal at the 32nd Games in 2023.
