Long Thanh airport passenger terminal to be completed in August 2026

Items of Component Project 3 - Essential works in the airport of the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1 are being urgently deployed to meet the schedule.

The Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) has just reported to the State Steering Committee for important national projects and key works of the transport sector on the progress of implementing Component Project 3 - Essential works in the airport under the Long Thanh International Airport Construction Investment Project Phase 1.

According to ACV, the passenger terminal construction package is currently about 66% complete. The contractor has mobilized nearly 2,400 personnel and more than 1,500 pieces of machinery and equipment and is processing and assembling the steel roof structure. At the same time, the construction of brick walls on the ground floor, first and second floors, and the construction of roof support columns is continuing.

In parallel with the progress of the rough construction, all the work of purchasing and ordering station equipment, facade glass walls... has been implemented, contracts have been signed with suppliers and manufacturers and are in the process of manufacturing and processing components... according to the proposed schedule.

ACV informed that the expected progress of basic completion of the construction part of the package will be before December 2025, with the completion and installation of trial operation equipment starting in early 2026 and striving to complete before August 31, 2026.

The estimated actual completed volume to date is about VND 10,110 billion, equivalent to 30.47% of the contract value (VND 33,185 billion).

In November, the contractor will complete the work and deploy the fabrication and installation of steel roof structures and move towards installing glass walls.

For the runway, taxiway, and apron items, after the groundbreaking ceremony, the joint venture contractor mobilized 2,136 personnel and 518 pieces of machinery and equipment with 50 construction teams to serve the construction of the package.

In particular, the runway (CHC) has completed the foundation and subgrade, and is expected to be completed and put into technical operation before April 30, 2025 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification (April 30, 1975. April 30, 2025). The project's progress is expected to be 3 months ahead of the contract schedule.

ACV said that all construction items of the package have been inspected, supervised and accepted according to the project's technical standards, ensuring the required quantity and progress. The estimated actual volume completed to date is VND3,059 billion/VND7,244 billion (42.23% of the contract value).

The traffic connection project is also being implemented by the joint venture contractor, which has mobilized personnel and 150 machines and equipment to simultaneously deploy construction projects.

It is expected that the construction of Line 1 will be completed in November 2025; the construction of the intersection of Line 1 and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressway will be completed in August 2025; the construction of the intersection of Line 2 and Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway will be completed in October 2025.

According to ACV's report, the project is expected to be completed and put into use in December 2025.

Regarding the passenger terminal aircraft parking lot category, in mid-September 2024, ACV signed a contract with the consortium of contractors ACC Aviation Construction Corporation - Truong Son Construction Corporation - Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation - Vietnam Construction Investment Development Joint Stock Company - Cienco 4 Group Joint Stock Company - Sau Bon Bay Aviation Construction Joint Stock Company to implement the bid package with a contract value of more than VND 6,267 billion.

The project started on September 20 with a construction period of 690 days (expected completion date August 11, 2026).

Currently, construction units are urgently implementing internal work (laboratory approval, input material sources, overall construction progress, detailed progress, ground construction drawing design...) to implement construction according to schedule.

At the end of October, ACV also signed a contract for the internal port traffic infrastructure and airport technical infrastructure with the consortium of Truong Son Construction Corporation - Phuong Thanh Transport Investment and Construction Joint Stock Company - Vietnam Construction and Import-Export Joint Stock Corporation - Construction Corporation No. 1 - Asia Industrial Engineering Joint Stock Company - Information Technology Application and Development Joint Stock Company - Vietnam Construction Investment Development Joint Stock Company - DACINCO Construction Investment Company Limited - Construction and Installation Joint Stock Company 368.

The package implementation time is 685 days. ACV is currently urgently preparing to organize an early start of construction work on site.

The construction and installation of the aircraft fuel supply system has started on October 25 with a duration of 600 days. Currently, the construction units are urgently deploying the work of assembling materials, equipment and camps to carry out the construction according to the contract schedule.
