This afternoon (June 6), students in Ho Chi Minh City completed the second subject of the foreign language exam in the 10th grade exam. Just leaving the exam site at Ban Co Secondary School (District 3), Do Ba Dung, a student at Le Quy Don Secondary School (District 3), smiled brightly and shouted to his classmates: "The test couldn't be easier!"

Candidates excitedly exchanged after completing the foreign language exam.

Asked specifically about the difficulty of this year's foreign language exam, the male student said the exam was not as difficult as the mock exam the school had organized, "much easier than I expected". "During the mock exam, I only got 6 or 7 points, but this official exam, I am completely confident that I will get at least 9 or 10 points. The questions in the exam are all at a basic level, finishing the first semester of grade 9 is enough to get almost the maximum score", Dung commented.

Agreeing with Dung, Huynh Ngoc Bao Han, a student at Le Quy Don Secondary School, also confirmed that this time's foreign language test was easier than expected, and she was confident of achieving at least 9 points. "There were almost no questions that impressed or troubled me. Before that, I had practiced solving many questions to improve my ability," the female student confided.

This year's foreign language exam in Ho Chi Minh City was assessed by many candidates as "easy".

Similarly, Nguyen Phan Nhat Huy, a student at Ban Co Secondary School, also confidently said he would get 8 points or more even if he only reviewed what was taught at school and studied on his own, "because the questions were quite easy."

Tran Quang Khai and Ngo Minh Anh, both students at College Secondary School (District 3), also assessed that this year's foreign language exam for grade 10 in Ho Chi Minh City was somewhat easier than last year, and not as difficult as the mock exams at school. Both acknowledged that there were questions that required diligent study of grammar structures to do well, and were both confident of getting a good score.

"This exam also had many interesting and humanistic materials that impressed us. For example, the reading passage said that Mother's Day is the author's favorite 'holiday', and that mothers always deserve all the precious gifts in the world. Or the information about a writing contest in the exam mentioned that the deadline for submission is today's exam date and time, which is very close to the reality of having just finished the literature exam," Khai said.

Even though they have to wait in the rain for their children, many parents are still excited because their children whisper that the test is easy and they will get high scores.

According to statistics from the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City, there are about 96,000 candidates registered and will take the 10th grade entrance exam, with the subjects of literature, foreign language, math (if registering for regular 10th grade) and specialized and integrated subjects (if registering for specialized schools and classes; integrated).

Grade 10 Exam Candidates leave in the rain with excitement

According to the examination site at Le Lai Secondary School, District 8, the majority of candidates said that the English test was at a "moderate and easy" level, the structure of the test was not too different from last year, but there was still a classification of candidates' abilities.

Ha Nguyen Phuong Nhi, a student at Binh Dong Secondary School, shared: "I found the test quite easy, I finished it in about 15-20 minutes, there were only a few multiple choice questions and the fill-in-the-blank part was quite difficult. I think those were the questions to classify students."

Similarly, Nguyen Dan Phuong, a student at Binh Dong Secondary School, said: “At first, I thought the sentence transformation part would be difficult, but the fill-in-the-blank part was the most difficult. I found the exam structure easier than at school.”
