HCMC - The installation of the steel roof of Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat Airport was completed 2 months earlier than expected, helping to speed up the project's progress.

Photo: Minh Quan On the afternoon of September 17, Vietnam Airports Corporation (ACV) held a preliminary ceremony to summarize the 120-day and night competition to complete the main steel roof structure of the passenger terminal and the multi-storey parking garage of the T3 Passenger Terminal project - Tan Son Nhat International Airport. At the same time, ACV also launched a 90-day and night competition with the goal of completing the entire roof, facade and powering the project. Photo: Minh Quan The T3 Passenger Terminal construction project includes four main items: the passenger terminal, the high-rise parking garage combined with non-aviation services, the overpass system in front of the terminal and the aircraft parking lot. With a total investment of up to VND 10,990 billion, the project is invested by ACV and is being constructed at an urgent pace. The rough concrete part of the passenger terminal is 100% complete, while the rough construction architecture has reached 90%. Similarly, the high-rise parking garage has also completed the rough part and reached 85% in terms of architecture. Photo: Minh Quan The highlight is the completion of the main steel roof of the terminal with 7,500 tons, 2 months ahead of schedule. The aluminum roof has a total area of 60,000 m², of which the first layer roof of the passenger terminal has reached 100%. Other items such as the glass curtain wall have been completed at the factory and are being transported to the construction site for installation. For the electromechanical system, the progress has reached 70% to 95% depending on the area. In addition, important terminal equipment such as elevators, escalators, bridge bridges and baggage conveyors have been brought to the construction site and are in the process of being installed. Photo: Minh Quan According to Mr. Le Khac Hong - Head of the T3 Passenger Terminal Construction Project Management Board, the total project volume has reached about 70%. To ensure the project is inaugurated on April 30, 2025, the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day, the entire project must be completed one month in advance - that is, there are only about 200 days left to complete. Mr. Le Khac Hong shared that this 90-day competition will focus all efforts on completing the entire terminal roof, facade glass, floor tiling, installation and connection of electromechanical equipment (UC), as well as energizing the project. With the pressure of progress, ACV is mobilizing maximum resources, including more than 2,500 workers, engineers and hundreds of machines and equipment, working continuously day and night 24/7. When completed, this will be a domestic terminal with a capacity of serving 20 million passengers per year, serving about 7,000 passengers during peak hours, and operating all types of code C and code E aircraft. The project will completely solve the current overload situation of Tan Son Nhat airport, contributing to improving passenger service capacity in the future.
