On November 9, at a regular press conference, answering reporters' questions about the information that the US Treasury Department said Vietnam manipulated its currency, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Pham Thu Hang stated:
As far as I know, the State Bank has had official information on this issue.
The US Treasury Department's November 7 report on the macroeconomic and foreign exchange policies of major US trading partners has placed six economies, including Vietnam, on the currency manipulation monitoring list.
However, this Report affirms that currently, Vietnam does not manipulate currency and gives positive comments on the results of Vietnam's monetary and exchange rate policy management.
At the same time, the Spokesperson said that in the coming time, in the spirit of the "Joint Statement on Upgrading Vietnam-US Relations to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace, Cooperation and Development", Vietnam will continue to maintain close cooperation through regular and effective exchange channels with the United States to share information, enhance understanding, and remove remaining obstacles in the bilateral relationship, especially in the economic and trade fields, contributing to bringing Vietnam-US economic relations to meet the interests of both sides.
