Support 1,830 poor and near-poor households in mountainous areas to build new and repair houses

TPO - In order to help poor people in mountainous districts have stable and safe housing, the People's Committee of Khanh Hoa province has just issued a decision approving the Housing Support Project for poor and near-poor households in the two mountainous districts of Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh, under the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025.

This project is the basis for mobilizing capital sources based on the principle of State support, community assistance and households organizing the construction and repair of houses. Thereby helping poor and near-poor households have safe and stable houses, able to withstand the impacts of natural disasters, contributing to improving the quality of life and sustainable poverty reduction, ensuring the regulations on the implementation of the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the period 2021 - 2025.

According to the project, Khanh Son and Khanh Vinh districts will have 1,832 poor and near-poor households supported with more than 42 billion VND from the local budget to build 274 new houses and repair 1,558 houses with the corresponding support levels of 40 million and 20 million VND/household. In addition to the provincial support fund, depending on actual conditions, localities will coordinate with families to mobilize their own capital and other legal capital sources with an amount of over 17.5 billion VND to implement the project.

Khanh Son district has a population of over 26,000 people, most of whom are ethnic minorities; of which there are more than 3,530 poor households (accounting for 47.43% of the total number of households in the district); the number of households supported to build new or repair houses is 1,112 households. Khanh Vinh mountainous district has a population of over 42,000 people, ethnic minorities account for more than 73%; the number of poor households is currently 4,831 households, accounting for nearly 46% of the total number of households in the district; the number of households supported is 720 households.

Vice Chairman of Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee Dinh Van Thieu said: The province has directed localities to monitor and supervise the use of support capital for poor and near-poor households in the process of building new and repairing houses for the right purposes, ensuring that the houses are completely built and put into use. In addition, local authorities mobilize organizations such as the Fatherland Front , Women's Union, Farmers' Association, Veterans' Association, and Youth Union to help households in the process of building and repairing houses; maximize the ability to mobilize resources from the community, take advantage of exploiting local materials according to the provisions of law to ensure reducing construction costs.
