To increase flood control capacity, proactively respond to future rainfall and flooding situations, ensure the safety of the structure, and prevent and reduce flooding in downstream areas, the Southern Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited has begun releasing water through the spillway of Dau Tieng Reservoir for the first time in 2024.
The discharge period starts from 7:00 AM on October 1st to 7:00 AM on October 4th; the discharge rate is 100 m3/s, and the total discharge volume is 25.92 million m3.
After this date, the Southern Irrigation Exploitation Company Limited will continue to release water to maintain the flow downstream of the dam according to the procedure, with a flow rate of 36 m3/s.
In addition, depending on the meteorological and hydrological conditions in the basin, the water level fluctuations in the reservoir, and the tidal patterns downstream of the Saigon River, the company will adjust the timing and flow rate of the discharge to suit the actual situation and will provide further notice.
