According to coach Ange Postecoglou, the VAR system took three minutes to assess a clear situation, but overlooked many fouls in Tottenham's defeat to Brighton on December 28th.
"It's surprising that VAR handled everything except one dangerous tackle on my player," complained manager Postecoglou in the press conference after Tottenham's 2-4 defeat to Brighton in the 19th round of the Premier League.
According to the Australian manager, the referee overlooked a red card for Lewis Dunk when the Brighton defender made a dangerous tackle on Dejan Kulusevski. He said: "The penalty we conceded was clear and they only took three minutes to make the decision. I have no complaints about that situation."

Tottenham arrived at Brighton in high spirits after winning three consecutive matches, while their opponents were struggling. However, the visitors were quickly dealt a blow when Jack Hinshelwood and Joao Pedro scored two goals in the first half. Tottenham's defense, with its four full-backs, appeared disorganized, constantly allowing Brighton's forwards to dribble and combine in front of the penalty area. The penalty conceded came after Kulusevski blatantly pulled Danny Welbeck's shirt inside the box.
"To be fair, we looked a bit tired and lacked our usual sharpness, especially at the start of the game," added coach Postecoglou. "Our style of play demands physicality, but the team didn't look good today. Brighton played well and were enthusiastic. They took advantage of that."
Postecoglou has repeatedly criticized VAR this season. Last month, he expressed his disapproval of VAR after Tottenham's 1-4 defeat to Chelsea, in which two players were sent off. The 58-year-old manager argued that the VAR system makes football less exciting by tearing situations apart for review.
The defeat prevented Tottenham from reclaiming fourth place from Man City. They now have 36 points after 19 games, one point behind Man City and having played one more match. Spurs are also only three points ahead of second-placed West Ham. Manager Postecoglou remains optimistic despite Tottenham having just gone through a period without 10 players due to injury. "Things could get better for us when the key players return," he said.
Postecoglou and his team only have two days off to regroup before returning home to face Bournemouth, the league's current top-of-the-line team, on the final day of the year.
