"After the match started, we were too easygoing and relaxed. I criticized the team at half-time. They thought they had already won. We cannot enter the game with that mindset if we want to win," coach Ten Hag said after Man Utd's 3-0 victory over Everton in round 13 of the Premier League on the evening of November 26 (Vietnam time).

Man Utd took an early lead against Everton at Goodison Park after just three minutes when young striker Alejandro Garnacho opened the scoring when the Argentine scored one of the most beautiful goals ever seen in the Premier League with a bicycle kick.

However, Ten Hag's side did not score another goal until after half-time and some harsh words from the Dutchman in the dressing room at half-time helped the Man Utd players play better in the second half.

"A game can last 95 minutes, even longer with two six-minute injury times, so you have to play for 100 minutes on the pitch, controlling the ball, every player has to be like that.

We played very well in the second half and scored our highest number of goals this season. Our three attackers scored. That's what we need, them running and scoring, because that helps us as a team.

Surely that will give them confidence and they have to do this in the next match," coach Ten Hag revealed the secret to motivating the players to help Man Utd beat Everton.

The Dutch strategist also did not forget to praise his students when the players united and made efforts to help Man Utd get back on track in the Premier League after the FIFA Days in November.

"The season is still long, but Garnacho's goal was probably the best goal of the season. Also, the team play, it was not only complete but very good. We talked about courage, dynamism and initiative. Obviously, the end was great.

In Copenhagen we proved it and now it's proven again how the team can play and how you can keep the crowd quiet but influence the opponent.

Be brave, proactive, dynamic and that's what we showed in the match," the 53-year-old coach affirmed.

The win over Everton helped Man Utd move up one place in the rankings, reaching 6th place in the Premier League but still 4 points away from a place in next season's Champions League.
