(Dan Tri) - Coach Ruben Amorim has become the youngest strategist to lead Man Utd since 1969. The Portuguese teacher also affirmed that he did not join the Red Devils for money.
Coach Ruben Amorim has made history at Man Utd after he reached an agreement to lead the team until June 2027. According to statistics, the Portuguese strategist became the youngest coach to lead Man Utd in the past 55 years.

The last time the Red Devils appointed a younger manager was in the summer of 1969 when Wilf McGuinness was chosen to succeed Matt Busby. At that time, coach Wilf McGuinness was just 31 years old.
In the Premier League era, Amorim is the youngest coach to lead Man Utd. He is also only younger than 3 coaches working in the highest league in England at the moment: Fabian Hurzeler (Brighton - 31 years old), Kieran McKenna (Ipswich Town - 38 years old) and Russell Martin (Southampton - 38 years old).
The recruitment of a young coach like Amorim (only equal to C. Ronaldo) shows that Man Utd wants to create a "new wind" on the coaching bench. Coach Amorim's boldness and breakthrough ideas are what the Red Devils lack, to create a big enough leap.
Speaking to the press, Coach Amorim confirmed that the reason for joining Man Utd was not for money, despite the fact that he is the 4th highest paid coach in the Premier League with 6.5 million pounds per year. This income is three times what he received at Sporting Lisbon.
The coach born in 1985 said: "Some people say I joined Man Utd for money. But that's not true. I turned down an offer with a salary three times larger than what the Red Devils paid just to join the team. Man Utd is the team I really want to lead."

Coach Amorim admitted that Man Utd only gave him three days to think. That forced the coach to change his plan. Initially, he only planned to go to Man Utd after the end of this season.
He added: "I asked Man Utd if I could join the team at the end of the season. That's what I wanted but the team refused. They said now or never. So I was forced to make a decision immediately. I agreed."
Amorim will start working at Man Utd on November 11. Last night, he helped Sporting Lisbon win 5-1 against Estrela to maintain the top position in the Portuguese national championship with 10 wins. In the middle of next week, Amorim and Sporting Lisbon will face Man City in the Champions League.
