As Thanh Nien reported, in the process of searching for a coach for the men's and U.23 Vietnam football teams, VFF is still actively choosing a coach for the Vietnam women's team.
At the end of 2023, Coach Mai Duc Chung said goodbye to the Vietnam women's team after a long journey of attachment and bringing Vietnamese women's football to a new level. The Vietnam women's team has become a force in Southeast Asian football with many SEA Games gold medals, making a certain mark in the Asian arena. And in particular, Coach Mai Duc Chung and his team played tenaciously, overcoming adversity at the Asian women's football tournament to win their first ticket to the 2023 World Cup. The history of Vietnamese sports in general and Vietnamese football in particular considers this an extremely important milestone, honestly and accurately reflecting the dedication of Coach Mai Duc Chung and his students.

In preparation for the new journey, with the goal of SEA Games 33 in Thailand at the end of 2025, VFF has actively planned to find a new coach for the Vietnamese women's team. However, for many different reasons, this search has not achieved the desired results.
VFF has considered and had an official meeting with coach Mai Duc Chung. The two sides have negotiated and will sign a new contract. In which, coach Mai Duc Chung will continue to lead the Vietnamese women's team with a contract that lasts until the end of 2025. In 2024, coach Mai Duc Chung and his students will not have any international duties but will be sent by VFF to train in Europe, creating momentum for the 33rd SEA Games. It is known that the goal of the Vietnamese women's team and coach Mai Duc Chung is to reach the final of the women's football event of the Games.
